R700 384kbps uncapped yah or nah???

Even now I'm on my iPhone connected wirelessly. Laptop will wake from sleep at 1.01am sharp, jdownloader will open and start downloading Kurt cobain documentary off rapidshare and orbit download manager will also inntialize downloading 3 episodes of chuck season 3 and some other nonsense. I forget what it was. 10gigs in total by 7am at a cost of 2gigs worth of my cap.

R700 / 123GB = R5.70 per GB - thats not bad at all. But you've got a 4mb line. Most of us can't afford R413 per month just for the line, and then still have to fork out for bandwidth. So we're stuck with 384K lines, and there's not much you can download with a 384K account in that time....

I got a 384kbps line at my store. Horrible. 150mb per hour vs 1.5gig per hour.
 
It does get pricey. All in R1150 roughly maximum potential capacity 125gig (25 x 5). Then afrihost 5gig another R145 plus R29 if one wants to top up. So yes it becomes pricey.
 
How do you get a 25gb account from them? The only list up to 3gb.

I know that it is horribly expensive (R999), but I still believe that the Axxess 384 line (with full 4mbps after hours) are the best value for money if you are only using this at home ie. after hours.

During the day I am at work, so the 384 does not bother me, but to have a full 4mbps line when I get home at night is pure heaven. I only intended to move my line to 4mbps and sign up for the AXXESS deal during December (holiday at home), but it seems that I have managed to get myself addicted to the speed and the fact that I don't have to worry about the cap.

So here is a warning. If you have not experienced an uncapped 4mbps line (even if it is just after hours), please stay with the 384. These 4mbps lines are like drugs, once you have tasted it, it will be a real problem going back to 384....

While this works. It really shows how ludicrous the situation is in South Africa. I long for the day when I do not have to run any scripts on my router to get the internet experience I want. Also means I don’t have to sweat for the day something goes wrong with the script and my wife calls me to say the internet is not working :erm:
 
A local newsserver would help them reduce costs. It basically means you only need to increase capacity into the telkom cloud without the need to match it with international capacity, as most p2p would be within the country.
 
not unless you get 400K line speed afterhours! :D 384K = death
