R73000 a day

There is no way it can be justified. He does however have to hold some serious company secrets like for instance exactly how badly government has protected it in the past and who has their fingers in the Telkom pie...

o goody for him, telkom is money making machine! or are they a phone company....

never mid

Never mind the outrageous salary... lets examine this guys tax return...
I like to see 40% of 19 million paid in tax.. thank you very much... is there a public record one can check this?

If the company actually performed well in terms of consumer relations and if they were ethically sound then I couldn't give a rats ass what Mr September earns. He could earn 20 billion a second and it wouldn't bother me.

However the company is totally unethical, rips off customers, is not developing anything worth $h*t, is useless at its core and is morally corrupt right at the top. Sadly we all have to pay for it and that is the crux of the matter.

... and they want to outsource their core business
They are a headless chicken company. No direction at all, and seems to be on the verge of bleeding themselves dry.

Crap. What about their drop in profit margins and share price? (A sign that the company has been doing worse.)

When his nett gain is so much, I honestly couldn't give a crap about percentages, he's not comparable to other CEOs of companies that actually work, period.

The fact of the matter is that Telkom make massive amounts of money. The way in which this achieved, I believe, does not influence how much the CEO should be paid.

I'd agree on moral grounds that the way Telkom has made their profits and their inability to invest those profits in expanding infrastructure is highly questionable.

Threepwood: please show me a South African company which makes as much as Telkom and does not reward their CEO with a similarly fat pay check. Then you can call crap!

Should Telkom be worried about how many billions they can make off us, using the copper network that was installed with tax payer money or the customer and service?

I wouldn't mind paying what I do for a local only internet (can we call this a SA intranet) if it was up to scratch but seeing as my 4mb line only syncs at 1mb and looses sync every 5min for the last 3 years, I do.

I notice Telkom's Share Price dropped -16% this last week to close down sharply at R110.00 per share on Friday last and in so doing in my opinion broke the key level of around R130.00 per share which has seemed to have held up until this point. Even on Friday when all the other shares across the board went up, Telkom still nosed dived down.
If this share does not pick up above R120.00 I am afraid this one is headed for R100.00 and then who knows where to after that.

Seems our lavishly paid CEO is doing something wrong or rather nothing at all that Investors are not too keen about.

They're valued at around R132 per share
