Racial Classification

Nope. You are wrong. My ID number is still the same, as are the ID numbers of many, many other South Africans I know. The ID number I still fill in everywhere, and there are no stipulation on any of the places that I fill in, that the last digit(s) must not be filled in, or can be ignored, or whatever. The full ID is filled in everywhere.
Are you holding a bar-coded ID document or not? If you are, then your ID number now EXCLUDES racial identification.

I think people's ID numbers were adjusted when they applied for the new bar coded ID's, not sure, either way I'm not 10 and I don't have a race-specific ID number.

I have a bar-coded ID and my ID number is still the same as it was at my birth in the 70s. There was no change, no digits removed, and the full ID must be filled in every single form I have to fill it in.

What would a black American fill in when applying for an ID? :D

I do not know this. I thought they were all mandatory. Clearly you present yourself to have a better "general" knowledge of which forms have this as optional or mandatory, so please go ahead and give some examples of those specific forms.

 I thought this was your point you where trying to prove

My ID number never changed and I don't think anyone else's did either. However since the act was scrapped in 86 there are quite a lot of people with ID numbers that don't state their race handing in tax returns.

Mine was given to me before 86 and yet it still doesn't state my race correctly (according to the prior way)....

As I said: I have a bar code on top of the second page of my ID book. Below it, it states "S.A. Citizen". The number is the same as what was given to me at birth in the 70s. Nothing has changed.

If I fill in the ID number in any form, they know my race.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I unfortunately have got to go.

I will be back later. But this has been an interesting discussion. I like talking to you, despite all the mis-quotes and mis-statements. I look forward to continuing the discussion later.

Believe it or not but your ID number did change. You were not issued with a bar-coded ID book when you were born. Old ID numbers included racial identifiers - ones issued since 1994 don't. ALL pre-1994 Id Numbers were converted into new numbers. I can even provide the formulas for the conversion if you really want it.

They don't know your race from your ID Number. There's no way of knowing what your race is from your ID number.

Sorry Capetonian, but here YOU are wrong. Your current ID book might still classify you, but when you apply for a new one, you will notice that the last digits will be 8x (as far as I know...). This is because the 0x through 7x indicated race, and now everybody has 8x, thereby not classifying the race any more! My current ID still reflects 0x, but at Home Affairs my ID number ends in 8x...

This "race" bisiness...I don't actualy catch on to the "stigma"...ie "racist"...I think its just the way you are born...Take for instance...Have you ever seen a pidgeon "mating" with a swallow??...."Birds of the same feather flogs together".....just the way the good Lord made us i think :)

here we go....

You would know that a pidgeon and a swallow are different species whilst a white and a black are the same species now....

as far as i know, they'r both birds....and we are both human...Same as Xosa and Zulu...both are human, but different "species"...if i may call it like that ( no offence, just trying to get some clarrety here )

A pidgeon cannot impregnate a swallow. There DNA is to different therefore they are a different species.

However a white pidgeon can mate with a grey pidgeon and do all the time...
A white tiger can mate with a Bengal Tiger

There is only one species currently of homo sapiens on this planet.

mmm...ok....point taken ;) Also we could go on and on with this subject...so its pointless :)

Rubbish
How can you tell that this is a Zulu and not a Xhosa? next thing you's be telling us that Mr Smith is a different species to Mr Brown...How stupid???

The humans are one species. People of mixed race would not exist if humans belonged to separate species. Different species just don't breed naturally...

A pigeon and a swallow belong to the class of birds (not a species)....just like a shark and a dolphin belong to the same class i.e. fish.

Ok...the word "species" maby was wrong.....but im actually talking chromosones here :-)
Long story short...i could be wrong...i could be right...no one can physicly "prove" it, but i got a weired feeling that "visiting" across the border aint the right thing....like i say...its just an instinct,,its the same as proving God is there...although we all know he is...
Think about it...Everybody has a "race"...the German race...the English race...the Zulu race...etc etc....What is the use of having a "race" then, if you jump the fence???..it doesn make sense, does it? Why was there then a race in the first place??

There has to be a reason for it not to be 'the right thing'. If there is none then who ever thinks it's not right is a racist...

WTF  that makes absolutely no sense at all....

That means I shouldn't have married my wife since she is from a different country to me?

It also makes my two daughters different race since they where born in different countries...

I am sure deep down there is logic in what you said but hell I can't find any...
