Africa disproportionately bears the burden of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Although only 11% of the world's population lives in Africa, roughly 67% of those living with HIV/AIDS are in Africa. (1,2) In Africa, there were 22.4 million people living with HIV and 1.9 million new HIV infections in 2008. An estimated 14 million children in Africa have been orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS. (2)

I guess her PR career is going to take a dive...
Why does our country attract so many idiots off late.... is it because we also have one running the show...:wtf:
You obviously didn't read her twit. But anywhere...
3RD UPDATE, 1:25 PM: Justine Sacco has been swiftly sacked by Barry Diller‘s IAC a day after posting her controversial AIDS Tweet. “The offensive comment does not reflect the views and values of IAC,” the company said in a statement Saturday. “We take this issue very seriously, and we have parted ways with the employee in question. There is no excuse for the hateful statements that have been made and we condemn them unequivocally. We hope, however, that time and action, and the forgiving human spirit, will not result in the wholesale condemnation of an individual who we have otherwise known to be a decent person at core.”

Nobody knew who she was. She had 100 followers…that’s it. It only brought “disrepute” to IAC once people with too much time on their hands decided to broadcast the tweet and seek to destroy her because of it. This mob mentality of going after anyone and everyone when they offend suddenly delicate sensibilities is getting out of hand. People have been saying dumb things for years, but now it seems we believe they should atone for them with their livelihoods.
Feck the world is really mad! It's so sick. A stupid woman lost her job because of a stupid "loose cannon" tweet yet here locally Zuma is still in power, criminal Malema is still driving an expensive BMW too fast and wears dark specs, the ANC create racist laws while crime, murders rape and corruption soar sky high!
Our priorities are just fecked!

I don't get what your mean. Should she get away with what she said because in SA Malema and Zuma get away with similar behaviour?

I wish people would have a little more humour on the Internet.
If Ricky Gervais made that joke (which he somewhat did with that Liam Neeson skit) everyone would have laughed it up.
I figure it was pretty funny, if you can accept the humour in it and not take yourself too seriously.
