Hi

Apologies, not sure if already asked. Quick search didn't pick up anything.

Which Rain 5G package is the best?

I've seen complaints about unlimited R479 vs 19 hours R250 packages but these are not 5G?

Would appreciate advise on whether its worthwhile to upgrade from my Telkom 3G R599 unlimited (actually softcapped 300GB) package to Rain 5G.

If yes, which Rain 5G package? My area is in their 5G coverage.

Thanks

Get 699 5g deal if don't need the extra speeds, if want super fast downloads just get 999 deal. Worth the upgrade you can do more than 300gb in a day with 999 deal

Throttling no , Speeds yes ,

There is a number of things that can affect your speeds, Location , Distance from Tower, Tower congestion,
I'm on the 999 package , and at the moment , my speeds are all over the show , Anything from no connection to in rare cases very good speeds,

Definetly take the R699 5G package. I took it, and it works like magic (for a while). This package is strictly made
for streaming, but NOT FOR ONLINE GAMES. See, I had 3min disconnects every hour and gets worse from 4pm upwards. My wife is not affected by the disconnects since YouTube caches ahead of time that's why its decent for streaming.
Like every forum here says, Rain's 5G is not there yet but has a lot of promise when it works 100%. Keep in mind that this is a 24/7 package, you will not regret one bit except if YOU ARE A GAMER!!!

I see mention in social media about limitation to 1 device for R699.

However, on website states limit to 480p which is ok.

Then under R999 package they state multiple HD streams. This implies R699 limited to one HD stream.

Social media also states month to month. Rain website doesn't indicate this.

However, they state free to use router. This implies the router remains Rain's property.

Edit In fact I see they state "Free-to-use as long as you’re with rain"

Are there options to purchase it? Is there better 5G routers?

Must one install the 5G router yourself? Hopefully not.
Do you get an external antenna? Hopefully yes.

The R699 package is really fast and can handle multiple devides (+6 and more) running 480p with no problem whatsoever. Keep in mind this package is perfect to test the water before you commit to the R999. I highly recommend you trying it first before upgrading to the premium.

The modem is definitely Rain property, and so far you are locked to Rain config. You will not be able to try other 5G modem until Rain says you can. Free-to-use means the modem is yours to keep for as long as you are with them. You dont pay for it at all. The R699 upfront fee will actually be credited back into your Rain account and on the 1st of the next month, a pro-rata rate will be debited off the initial credited amount.

I'm shocked and disappointing by the feedback (so far) on 5g, in general.
I have a 10mb WISP connection and i can EASILY stream 4 devices simultaneously, 2 in full hd and 2 in 480. This is while im playing online COD, without issues.
Why am i saying this? Because the hype around 5g made me think there will be NO MORE ISSUES relating to limitations, only streaming 1 device, does not work for gaming!!

Or am i missing something?

Dont get me wrong, ping is great and you will never lag when everyone is streaming. Its the random-hourly-disconnects that will get you banned in ranked-online-games. :(

Ok, but is it a known issue being worked on?
