RAIN 5G Gauteng NSA or SA thread

Actually I hope they are busy testing here by me currently because after it switched to SA my internet keeps dropping and reconnecting.

Also my signal quality is fluctuating like crazy.
Please PM me your details, let us take a look

Nope, this could be a case of you been close to the edge of the cell, or between the edge of two cells - NSA handles this differently to SA. Lets see, i would recommend moving the router a bit, even 20cm could solve this.

Oh noes. Don't say things like this. My router is on the roof. Was quite a mission to install. Will try and move it up or down a bit later.

Maybe i should have waited to downgrade till later..hahahah

Also now on SA but on the 699 package so no change in speed for me. FW also updated

I logged a call with Rain my dads rain is on 4g and they on the R699 method they got fiber this is more for when the power is out .

Was already called asked them for the FW file so I can flash the router lets see what they say the to69 is also connected so they have access to do it :)

Other 3 sites i know also on SA R999 option no issues so far.

Please PM me your details again - i will get it sorted. Looks like very bad signal or stuck on 4G

This issue has to do with RAIN's Gauteng NSA>SA migration which was why this thread was started. Signal was/is fine (low 70's).

I'm hoping the extra latitude offered with migration to SA helps improve speeds on RAIN's over saturated 5G offering.

What I don't understand is how RAIN just leaves its customers out to dry trying to figure out what is going on. Here on MyBB at least through some internal contacts we have been made aware of the Gauteng NSA>SA migration. I can only imagine the mess out there with less informed customers.

PM inbound. I logged a ticket this morning.

In the mean time setting all kinds of records here for RAIN 5G premium. Reminiscing about the 90's here and my 9600k dial-up modem.

So no real change then?

No not really. I want to say it's more stable but not sure feels about the same. I did not really have issues before. I guess we will have to see over the long run how it performs.

Upload is definitely more stable. It also reaches the peaks faster and does not vary in speeds as much as before so let's see how it goes.

I recently noticed that rain has switched to SA where I am, I thought that was gonna give me even higher speeds but its the total opposite my download speed has gone down I used to break into the 377Mbps (highest ever recorded in my case) that was on NSA but now I can't even go beyond 190Mbps on SA. Upload has gone up though but still useless to me the only thing I ever upload is WhatsApp photos. Tembisa
