Rain 5G: My Experience & Network Setup

New on the Rain 5G service. With the Premium CPE is there anybody that has some devices that cannot detect the SSID of the CPE. Most devices like iMac, Xbox, Fire stick TV and iPhone connect no problem. But have two devices. A PC with a USB ethernet device and a Huawei Y9 that does not detect the SSID of the CPE.

yes, as powermzii asked, 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
Also, verify the WiFi channels on both the above - usually other devices like the lower end channels,

5ghz, but 2.4hgz channel is also up. Neither are seen by these two devices.
**Update**
I can connect to the 2.5GHz but don't have internet connectivity on the PC.

Not so lucky yet, I'm in Zeeks....will have to be patient. Can't wait to test fibre sub 5ms ping online

ahh okay - which side of zeekoevlei as i thought zeekoevlei had openserve. are you on the Vumareach roadmap? would be better if you can get one of the other providers like openserve/vumatel as choice is much better.

Thornton, Cape Town
got some feedback that there is work on cape town core happening and traffic is being diverted which could impact the latency. this should take few days before going back to normal. this is on 5g

it was good while it lasted peeps. alas i am now contemplating cancelling the rain 5g service. not much issues with the service other than the increase in ping last week or so. but i will be moving to the vumareach 40/10 fibre line full time.

i got rid of telkom and now im putting some focus on less reliance on eksdom - so some of the mula will be going into a hybrid solar back up system. some of my last moments will likely be uploading backups into my onedrive account with that gorgeous 100mbps upload..

Nice that you are getting the upgrade on the Vumareach

All the best on the solar journey - i've followed those threads and some interesting (and expensive) stuff out there

Yes for the price of the vumareach 40/10 (R529) its really a good deal (other than the quirks of the ONT/Router).

Thanks - yes - just scratching the surface but dont want to get carried away. With electrcity prices going up im trying to see the ROI for payback etc. but the fact that i can then have loadshedding backup would be great. was first going to go the UPS route but now looking into the solar route one time. hence the rain service has to take a break.
