Rain and storm for Cpt

Well the wind is much worse now in Brackenfell had a few down pours but nothing near major floods but can imagine this being bad for people living higher up as my complex sits in a hole so to say

You want to see a storm, August 2008 was a storm, my double-pane sliding windows literally bent the aluminium frame that held them from the wind's force, I could stick my arm through the gap, the rain hit your face like a PK, on youtube you can find clips of that storm, the ocean water routinely got above the promenade level out in Seapoint.

With 80mm of rain and wind speeds in excess of 100km/h predicted for the current storm, it should be putting the 2008 storm to shame, yet it can barely be called a storm at all. This is just Cape Town winter weather, a big 'meh'.

Yup, some areas are getting it worse than others, but I've yet to see anyone report wind speeds in excess of 89km/h, that's what a "storm" officially is in meteorological terms.

Noordhoek weather station 95kmh gust this morning.

I'm so terribly sorry your house has not blown down, maybe mother nature will oblige next time round. :D
Be grateful it stuck a bit south, its a really very low pressure system.

:p still not technically a storm if only gusts are getting up over 89km/h, needs to be sustained properly.

My view was very much like that Muizenberg pic in your link, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful not to have suffered damage, but I was really hoping for that predicted 80mm of rain over pretty much the entire province. We're on track to fall well short of that :(
 
Judging from the satellite image, this cold front is moving in very slowly with the bulk of the storm behind it? I am sure it will intensify late this afternoon for Cape Town - waiting to see more recent LEGIT pics from this so called: " Worst storm for Cape Town in 30 years"
