Rain and storm for Cpt

Coming down very nicely in Gardens/CPT :-)

SEP19 looks like the worst one in 6 years for Dwarsberg/Jonkershoek, ~70mm month to date.
 
This is going to reach Knysna / Uniondale tomorrow. Will be my coldest and dampest Karoo 2 Coast. That said thing pretty dry out here so they need some rain.
 
It has a tow hitch for the bike rack and my wife has to drive round from Uniondale to Knysna to pick me up at the finish of K2C - she prefers automatic.

Odo rolled over to 139,000km on the way home today and consumption was around 8l/100km (4speed auto with bike rack drag). I'm still very pleased with the Opel, and that some rain fell in those parts.

There will be quite a strong transition this weekend: Warm berg wind on Fri 27th, a coastal low with cooler conditions on Sat 28th, and a Black South Easter and cutoff-low along the Garden Route on Sun 29th. Hard to be more specific than that, but unlikely to be rain for Cape Town (until Sun 29th).

These sandstorms are becoming more frequent and I have lived in the desert for almost half a century...
Will post snaps later, sat at my desk wearing a facemask.....
Sand everywhere, a part of the store roof got ripped off...
My bakkie looks like somebody built sandcastles on the windscreen...
 
Six km out of town at the border.... its difficult for you okes that have not been in a sandstorm to understand....
You wake up in the morning with no wind....but the sand is sitting in the air...blocking the sun...waiting for the day to start...then the wind starts and everything starts to move...everything turns a mars orange colour and sand gets everywhere..View attachment 717349Screenshot_20190926-073100_WhatsApp.jpeg
 
Possible new (monthly) temperature record for Cape Town today (26 Sep). The reading at CT airport was 35C at 12.30pm, and just reached 36C at 1pm. Fortunately the air is dry, with a dew point of 2C (relative humidity < 20%).

Wikipedia shows a record of 33.1C for the period 1961-1990. I don't have access to data since then.

Those things are crazy, the old lady has been through a few in the Gobi, they look amazing, but I doubt they're much fun!
