It was winter cold out there this evening, long pants 2 x jerseys, not impressed!

Anyone had any decent rain today yet?

Forecast says a few hours of heavy downpour from late morning....5-10mm for today. So far , only overcast and cold, with a some rain early morning.

I just got back from a walk to the shops and it's drizzling. Kraaifontein

I have only seen light drizzle near the mountain so far. Various models are showing quite heavy rain later (10-15mm), but the detailed charts show most of this only in the deep south, barely brushing the Cape Peninsula. See:

Raining in Northern suburbs. I am planning to play golf at 4pm raining or not, so hope it stops.

Today there has been extended period of fairly steady rain with a few breaks in between, since just before midday, and ongoing...no guage here but reckon 5mm+ at least. Looks like it will continue until tomorrow morning, and the temps definitely feel around 13C or less.

Pity those in shacks or without proper housing, must be miserable as hell.

Starting with unbelievably warm conditions today (30C), models for the next week are very fickle, with little rain for Cape Town, but cold and unsettled conditions possible further east and over the central interior. It is still too early to make specific predictions, but this chart shows the potential for snow over mountains in the Karoo and Drakensberg:

Area of high pressure over Cape town that's preventing cold fronts from pushing up inland.. likely to pass by Monday next week which should bring some wetness..
