yes, I don't think there has been any snow visible from Cape Town this year.

I was about to question the sanity of those suggesting that there was actual rain... until I looked outside at the downpour !

And far more than forecast (10% probability) in the deep South, almost constant rain since 8am , some pretty heavy downpours as well!

My point exactly.
Meteorology is possibly one of the most difficult areas to accurately model, too many random variables... essentially like trying to model gas flow in an open ( not a constrained, closed system which is more predictable) system.

The tricky part with this system was the transition from a cold-front (this morning's rain over CT), and the developing cutoff-low further offshore, with plenty of sunshine over CT this afternoon.

Earlier this summer witnessed the neighbour (she's not single) at the bottom of the hill walking around naked near the front of their house without a care in the world as I drove past, so yes, optional indeed so it seems ..

Even asked me once if I like it, with a twinkle in her eye. Go figure.

UPDATE: Table Mountain fire has been contained

Lauren Howard Clayton, SANParks spokesperson, said that fire was “100% contained,” by Saturday evening and that mop up operations would commence.

The Milnerton webcam gives a nice view of Table Mountain, and the half-hourly updates show the progress of the fire. There was a significant flare-up around 11:00am. Note that the wind at altitude is from the North-West (opposite to that at the surface), ahead of a weak-cold front tomorrow (Sun 30th).
