What I meant(by brush past) or rather my understanding is the low pressure troughs move to more southerly latitudes , hence have little or no effect.Cold-fronts never really end, they just weaken and become less frequent as summer approaches.

Nope, 14% loss is better than 20%, but still a massive decline year on year. There will be more decline in the water level in years to come until day0 is reached just like PE. Hoping for more rain in times of more drought is dumb and will end in disaster.
