I am not looking forward to round 2 with the wind tomorrow. Last night it sounded hectic - woke up this morning to gutters and verandah roofs damaged all over our complex.

I just received a friend's photos of damage at a skate park in Somerset West. I think it's a matter of structures built since our last major cold front (and trees not trimmed). Wind direction is also important: Looks more westerly tomorrow (Sun 4th), with the surface low further positioned offshore.

After a short respite, we are due for another major frontal system starting on Wed 7th.
 
Jinne it was lekker at Newlands Forest this afternoon. No wind, just everything soaking wet & calm.

I wonder if they don't have power (spare) to pump water in Theewaterskloof. They used to do that. Would still get to overflowing but would have delayed it

There are still many months of winter left for them to pump water from the Berg River Dam to Theewaterskloof. The pumping rate is fairly slow (about 4m^3/sec or one third of Cape Town's daily consumption). It's a prolonged process (not an overnight issue), and at that rate it would take maybe 4 years to fill Theewaterskloof...

I did think about the power issue, but AFAIK it's a relatively small amount (something like 12MW??)

Yes, several days of wet and windy weather according to all the forecasts. Not huge amounts of rain, but cloudy and cold. Sat 10th looks semi-dry, but more rain is likely on Sun 11th.

The average dam levels in the Cape Town catchment area rose 5.7% last week to 69.3%. Yesterday (Mon 5th) they rose another 2.9% to 72.2% (some of that was a delayed data glitch). See: https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family ...and-sanitation-services/this-weeks-dam-levels
