
ROADS - UPDATE
This is the current road status for roads in and around the Theewaterskloof area, 12 July 2024 at 07:00.
Road and Pass Status:
Both Houwhoek Pass and the N2 at Botrivier are open. Water levels have subsided, and the water at the bridge in Botrivier at the N2 is flowing. Authorities will continue to assess and monitor both locations.
Motorist Advisory:
Motorists are advised to be vigilant and cautious on the road due to unpredictable weather conditions and roads that are extremely slippery. Roads may close if necessary, as the rain will continue today with a level 4 warning in place. Obey instructions from traffic officials, follow road signs, and reduce speed during this inclement weather period.
Road Closures and Conditions:
- Nethercourt Road partially closed between km 20 and 21 due to water over the road.
- Dwaalhoek Farm Road partially closed, accessible only to residents.
- High Rising closed between km 0 and km 1.28 due to road washaway.
Monitored Roads:
- Dassiesfontein Road between km 3 and 4 due to high water levels at the low water bridge.
- Solitaire Road to Hemel-and-Aarde Road due to high water levels.
- Bloemenkraal Road between km 2 and 3 for high water levels.
- Greyton Road between km 2 and 3 due to high levels at the bridge.
- Roads between Helderstroom and Middelplaas and Uitkyk and Middelplaas due to high water levels.
- Van Der Stel Pass is slippery but navigable with caution.
Flooding in Grabouw:
- ️ Ward 12 is flooded and some localised flooding is making access to Rooidakke difficult.
If travel is not necessary, please stay at home. All schools in the Overberg District are closed today, Friday, 12 July 2024.
