any idea of how much rain fell in Cape Town suburbs?
Very low rainfall at Constantiaberg and Dwarsberg, 6 mm and 5mm respectively

In Vredekloof (Northern Suburbs) it looked like someone sneezed. Stellenbosch (Paradyskloof) was 1mm.

So there is an upper low pressure trough forming over the country much further south than the one that affected us last week. There is a weather front approaching the cape. A perfect setup for interesting weather on Wednesday/Thursday. Whether the upper air trough is far enough south to cause rain in the main dam catchment areas is uncertain. But looks like the central past of the Karoo are in for lots of rain at least.

Neither scenario seems likely to affect CT according to recent forecasts. The upper trough will be too far inland, and the cold-front might miss landfall completely.

The relative poistions could shift slightly, but no cutoff-low is likely to develop from the interaction between these two events.

For Cape Town itself over the 4 days of the Easter long weekend (Fri 30th to Mon 2nd inclusive), there is a 30% chance of light rain, a 20% chance of moderate rain, and 50% chance of zero rain.

Very hard to predict accurately at this stage.

Thank you. I might get lynched for this but I really hope the rain stays away this weekend. I still have some cab hanging that needs to ripen and rain would mess that up now completely.

I see the latest SAWS predictions do show a 30% chance of some rain in the Cape dam catchment areas for late Wednesday/Thursday.

Southern part of Northern Cape and the central parts of the Western cape are expected to get some heavy rain with a possibility of localised flooding.

CT radar has been active all afternoon (for a change!) Isolated light showers from s high cloud base moving in over the Southern Suburbs. A few spots of rain in Kenilworth.
