Rain and storm for Cpt

But looks like quite a bit in the mountains. Will check tomorrow how much. That upper air trough and the front are going to dump plenty of water north of the mountains!

The latest quarterly or seasonal forecasts for April, May and June suggest that above normal rainfall can be expected for the southern half of the western cape. This is reasonably good news.

I recently heard that if the cape had had the rain we got over a period of 3 days last week, that the Theewaterskloof dam would have been filled 4 times over! It sort of puts things in perspective just how much rain does actually occur when conditions are good.

I see the rainfall recorded at Dwarsberg and Constantiaberg over the last 24 hours was not all that high, at just over 6 mm for both places. Pity the upper air trough did not move further south. But generally good news for the central karoo areas where flash floods and heavy rain is forecast for later today and early tomorrow.
