For the record, during the last two days of March (Thurs 29th and Fri 30th) the Dwarsberg mountain catchment station recorded 32mm and 28mm respectively. This is considerably more than the amounts recorded in low lying areas, and is almost entirely due to orographic effects over the mountains. Due to low soil moisure, very little of this rain will have made its way into streams and reservoirs.

The outlook for Fri 6th is looking moderately positive, with 5-10mm possible in places over the SW-Cape, and always more over the mountains. Another weak front will pass on Sat 7th, but this will mainly bring cold conditions, with little rain likely.

Hi, you would have an idea of the ecpected weather around the end of the month in Plett? Booked a spot for camping but don't want to be rained out. TYIA.

That is a bit difficult given the publically available weather models. The "best" indication that it is going to rain is that you are going camping and it is the start of the rainy season :twisted:

Very few. Constantiaberg (just south of Table Mountain in Cape Town) is the only other one I look at regularly: http://www.saeon-fynbos.org/constantiaberg-peak-weather

There is another one in the Cederberg (link in the same menu), but that hasn't had much rain at all.

Rainfall this morning, Dwarsberg 25mm+, Constantiaberg 10mm+.

Rain seems to have stopped for now (rather fast moving cold-front), but likely to remain partly cloud and cool for the next 36 hours.

Although I love the rain, I hope it will stop for now. Repair work on one of our thatch roofs at work just started yesterday and then the same night it starts raining.
 
So some rain is on the way. Might be short-lived but nevertheless a significant change in the weather for the cape province.

Very strange weather, firstly when I got up at 6am it was 20'C and as I rode through Stellenbosch it appears that only the CBD got rain, the rest of the place is dry.
 
a rather dry April so far, I guess it will be a dry winter then
 
There have been numerous signs of rain, but nothing has materialised for CT yet. The seasons have definitely changed, though it is only 3 weeks past the equinox.


Significant showers have occurred over the central parts of SA (welcome for them). It was warm and humid this morning, but no rain reached the ground.

The next series of cold fronts is likely around Wed 18th onwards, though long range forecast accuracy has been very poor recently.
