A rather weak front seems to be on the way. Maybe reach CT by Monday afternoon.

I think you might just enjoy cycling in the rain. Stellenbosch is piss cold in the mornings even without rain, I would never do that to myself. I hope you at least wait for sunlight as that flashing street lights on the R44 wouldn't make cycling any easier.
 
I leave home at 6:30 it is totally dark all the way, get to work just before 7am. I have good enough lights on my bike and cut through town from AF Louw to Rennish, so I am not on the R44 all the way. Ideally I would have liked to use the car on Thursday and tomorrow but I had to pickup my daughter from school on Friday and today so riding in the rain it will be.

Rather you than me. But you must at least be very fit, besides the petrol you are saving.
 
There are two fronts now. The first one is Rather weak the second has more substance to it. Only a few hours apart. Wishing all a good bit of rain.

The first front will bring some rain. The second front will bring very cold air, but is further offshore, and moisture will not reach land. There will be minimal amounts of snow. Overall a rather disappointing system, and not much rain in the following 10 days either...

Close. It's 12km / 30minutes. In the afternoon I head into the mountains and make it 23km 90minutes. When it is raining I stick to the road, I had one too many close call on slippery rocky mountain trails in the rain.

20.2% lower than this time last year. Surely if we don't experience a Noah's Ark type downpour in the next few months, we're screwed by Autumn next year?
 
It is a lot less than before, the ground retention of water seems to be less as well. There is one stream in particular, just above Brandwag, which used to run the entire winter even weeks after the last rain shower. I have not seen any water in it this year.

Slight drizzle this morning, I'm lazy, stuff the bike. Why spend money on a car and then nearly half the same amount in restoring it if you're not gonna use it. :confused:
 
I think that the Cape will experience a lot of "out of season" rainfall in the next momths, im essence I believe the rain will come sixty to ninety days late, just a theory am thinking about....
 
The north wester storms have been almost entirely missing so far this season. Those are the ones that really bring in the rain.
This last one just passed did not bring in much. And the next cold front now still mid Atlantic has not really developed yet. Very disappointing season so far.
You may well be right about a late wet season.

The next weather formation should arrive in about 36 to 48 hours. So far it looks like it may be a more intense low level formation but we need to wait.

At the rate of adding 1% a week, we're looking at ~35% when summer starts. I still don't know how CoCT will handle the situation.
