RAIN Huawei 5G CPE Pro settings

I think @rain_mobile is doing their brand serious damage by not supplying installation services with the CPEX unit.
Outside of the Tower issues some folk are reporting, others could've used help with external installation and tuning of the antennae's.
At least give the customer an option for a chargeable service for optimal placement of the unit. Would help ease the burden on their support organisation and improve customer satisfaction.

I fully agree, they can at least get someone to set up the CPE management system to it's optimal performance in your area, without me trial and error the settings myself, especially the laboring of the antenna settings which jumps so much that you don't ever really know which one is optimal.

Hi , Any idea on lightning protection of the CPE ?

I saw this on the forum and it works but It has not been tested yet as there has been any rain since I mounted the CPE
This is my installation, but it was removed becouse it never works, ahh so much for super fast 5G internet, i just can't seem to get it canceled now, it's like the Telkom cancellation nightmare, but with a difference, you can't get a reply from Rain anyware.

Did this a number of times as well. Problem as mentioned is signal wains to much. One minute I'm at 69dBm next minute 85dBm, that with pretty much line of sight to my tower. Even if one was to pay results may vary and doubt they could guarantee a stable signal. Heck I'm convinced even wind affects my signal!

Glad it's not just me, the jitter and ping really effects my kid' online gaming. Hence wanting to go back to a stable fiber line. Once they sort this out I'll try 5G again.

Hi RiseUp

RAIN

I am having the same issues as most of these people........

What does a guy need to do to get a response out of you?

I'm done with Rain, next month they can take their superior 5G and shove it where the son doesn't shine. Eventialy got the twoo green lights on so I'm ready for 5G, Great for half an hour 350+Mps download speed suddenly my speed readings were 16Mps,upload speed 1.5Mps, Ping 35ms and Jitter 75ms. This is worse when I was only connected to 4G at 2.5Hrz. Now even with my 4G it's running slower and the only way I can get some juice out of it is with my WiFi extender. Back to Fibre for me.
Fibre will always be a superior more stable product than 5G. 5G is for people like myself who don't have fibre as an option.

They wont help mate, you going to have to become a network engineer and fix it yourself... these guys just want your money, once you sign up then they dont give a hoot.

Thank you for the detailed info. I've tried with the fixed antenna settings, which made it slightly more usable, but not stable at all yet. I seem to have pretty solid reception and connection on the router, but no usable luck. I feel like I've tried everything, so guess I'll just have to wait.

Thanks again.
BEST ADVICE FOR RAIN 5G USERS
i ve been doing this since September .....best advice to fix connectivity issues....Rain dont tell you this because it can also degrade your signal,,but if you know what you're doing it will speed things up considerably and help with bandsteering from broadcast antenna ie. faster speeds and latency

its helped me too, the fixed antenna solution - however I had to move the cpe device before I fixed.

The problem is how do you decide which antenna 1-10 to fix it on, it jumps so much I have to just guess which areal?

The ping stabilized somewhat by connecting only my Xbox to my extender's 5Hrz channel, however it's still very high at 236ms.

Your always going to have some latency on wireless, Thats why i have most of my devices hardwired .
The only stuff i have on wireless are mobile devices and work laptop.

The other thing is , is your repeater extender hardwired or wirelessly connected to your main router ?

I got my premium 5G router on Tuesday and I cant get the rain optimiser to work at my flat, I have moved the router around and no luck so far, Rain website whoever says I'm within the 5G coverage, Can't seem to get hold of rain support also.
The signal for 5g is good. but I'm getting LTE speeds below 10mbs .
Anyone that had this issue, that can help.

Login to the router (192.168.8.1) and check the actual stats.
On the bottom of the first page it should say "Network and Internet Info > Detail ", click on it and see what it says in the right column as that's the 5G stats - maybe post a screenshot too.

That result on the optimiser usually means a below 100mbps result of the speedtest.
I suggest playing with the antennae settings mentioned earlier in this thread and to move the receiver to the roof or on to a balcony pointing in the direction of your tower.

Looks like you are in a dense area with lots of buildings, resulting in a poor/average signal.

hi all im having issue trying to get connected to the Rain 5G unit. below is what i am getting from the unit. how do i factory reset the unit. Or do i need to get hold of rain to get a new unit?
