Any one see the upload speed like double in the last few days?

I am still connected to the same two towers and signal stats have not changed at all.

5g R999 package

Ping: 14ms
Download: 234.04Mbps
Upload: 45.94Mbps

Anyone in the sophiatown/Westdene Area on Rain 5g, can you share your speed test results?

I think it because you are connected to (2) towers :-) ...nice life problems

I am have locked my router on the 5G network and connected to a tower almost 2km away from my house with lots of high trees which makes matters even worse as it impacts on the line of sight.

Thank you so much for this! It solved the MS Teams issue of network dropping.
I had the same problem with random internet drops and massive spikes. What fixed it for me was going into antenna settings in "system -> antenna" and changed the 'Select Mode:' from 'Auto' to 'Fixed' and apply. You can change the 'Antenna Combine Index', it's the combination of antennas which can be used on the device. The arrows in red shows the antenna combination for the selected 'Antenna Combine Index', more details can be read in the user help manual (as shown below). The 'TX Antenna' is the antenna currently used, respective to the 'Antenna Combine Index'.

I notice the random drops and spikes happen when the 'Select Mode:' is in 'Auto' and the router auto selects an antenna combination which is not optimal and packets starts dropping. An incorrect 'Antenna Combine Index' will use the incorrect antenna and leave you with no/slow internet.

Hope this will help you, as this helped me and my connection is now rock solid.

Edit: The manual can be found when you log into the CPE and click on the 'help' button on the top right.

Thank you so much for this! It solved the MS Teams/Drop connection problem. My speed is still erratic but at least connection is stable.

Speedtest (speedtest.rain.co.za) is only getting 70Mbps on cable.
These are my stats:

Don't you think I should get a bit more?

Hi All

Yesterday I mount the CPE on a 1-meter ground pole as to get a clear line of sight from the base station (Tower) I moved from 35 Mbps to 103.5 Mbps on cable and wifi remains around 85-95 depending on how far from the CPE and location in the house etc.

1-meter ground pole got it from scoop with raw bolts and bracket are provided with the CPE

Hi everyone, I really hope someone can help. I can't access the Rain 5G CPX management page to change my APN settings. I need to change my NAT settings for better connection to online gaming with my Xbox. My speed, upload and download speeds is going up and down like a yo-yo. I'm getting a solid wifi extender tomorrow which I'll plug derectly into my Xbox and hopefully this will stabilize my Ping and Jitter. However I'll still won't be able to change any settings on my CPX router

With that upload you are not close to the tower though.

People out here complaining about speeds of 100Mb/s (no offence), while we haven't had a usable connection for a month and a half, with no help from RAIN. This thread got me excited to actually get 15Mb/s with suggested solutions (on 5G Premium), but after a day it turned out just as unstable. I've eventually started digging around in the settings, and even found out how to hack the dashboard to show Primary and Secondary DNS input fields, but it doesn't seem to save what I put in. Since this is the most relevant place for info on the net, maybe some people with stable connections can actually share screenshots of all their router settings? That would really be appreciated. Mobile data gets pretty expensive for two people trying to keep their remote jobs (I'm a game design lecturer) and trying to run a digital business on the side.

ouch honestly mine is all over the show .

From where you are to where it is now it's like a roller coaster , and then during the day there is multiple times where off entirely .

Same. Up and down, slow or disconnected. Caught it now at its best(pic). Been a month and a half.1588684577511.png

It's been covered elsewhere on this forum, Rain 5G uses Strict NAT and there is no way to change this. Rain uses Carrier grade NAT similar to the mobile providers; basically the external IP assigned to you is also shared by many other Rain users as far as I understand. So in games like Destiny 2 and CoD MW the game will only place you with other players also on Strict NAT.

Around your 2nd point, to get a stable ping/latency, play with your antennae settings as noted by @name_less.
Manually set antenna to Fixed then cycle through the variations from 1-10 until you get the best speed. This will dramatically stabilise latency spikes.
