RAIN LTE-A: Speedtests

Anyone using this. Im worried about the 2mb when the FUP is reached. Im using rain 4g at the moment witha outdoor antenna and man its soooooo bad during the 1 or 2mb when im lucky. Only after 12am i get between 10 and 20mb. I just want to know if this gonna be worth it.

which network is this?

Why is your battery always flat, man?

Happens if you always testing stuff.

Interesting to see that the mutual agreement between Vodacom and Rain extended further. They now primarily use Vodacom IP transit for their network which essentially means they have the same network as Vodacom now.

How do you get such high speeds? Im lucky if I get up to 10Mbps on the download...
(And yes, my router is aimed at the window!)

Not sure but I think it's the area and coverage.

The whole area has fibre and ADSL coverage.

Rain has 5G here also and there is 3 towers within 180m from me and 10 towers within 900m radius. This area also does not get loadshedding so %g doesn't go down and with all the towers, fibre and 5G there is a lot of capacity on 4G.

Even downloading on steam it peaks at just below 170Mbps

What router did you use? Did you use an external antenna, and which band was this on?
Would you mind sharing your SNIR, RSRQ and RSRP ?
Was this on the uncapped 10Mbps ?

Started with the R250 plan but on the R299 plan now.

Using a Samsung S8. It's B3 + B38 aggregated and signal is really good indoors because I can see the tower from my window.

You're getting these 5G standard speeds from the R299 4G package? Those on 5G Standard are getting 5G premium speeds. Whats going on at rain???

He can see the tower out of his window.

Rain is coverage dependent. With that said, seems as if they lifted some limits and shaping recently letting some get a taste of more. Maybe they had upgrades?

Rain seems to be having some major issues in my area, especially with international sites, many won't even load. This is unusable. Looks like I'm going to have to buy some prepaid data on another network just to be able to work today.

The only solution Rain has ever given me was to turn my router off and on again :( I'm at the point where I may not have a choice in finding another provider. Rain has been slow for several weeks and it's just getting worse.

Hi @MrJacques

I have received your PM

Today was the last straw, subscription cancelled. It's just too unstable to be used for work any longer. I had several connection drops while trying to make a Teams call. I appreciate the help from tech support, but the connection is too slow and unstable.
