RAIN LTE-A: Speedtests

The connection constantly goes up and down every few seconds with both the routers I have. The connection light goes green, red, green, red. I can barely browse the internet and can't make Teams calls when it's like this :(

I'm about half a km from the nearest tower I'm connected to and signal strength is at 4 / 5 bars.

I think it's unlikely that both my routers are suddenly broken, but the one handles the network drops a bit better than the other one. Surely this must be an issue with the tower(s) and network?

Are you aiming these routers at the window though...?

It actually feels like my connection has become worse since switching from limited off peak to unlimited. And so far the techs haven't been able to get to the cause of it.

Something very interesting is happening with Rain 5G at my business in Kempton Park.

The area has been plagued with power outages over and above the usual load shedding.

Now, historically the business has periodically been on generated power via a hired generator. We'd notice under generated power, if the area was out so was Rain 5G. The routers software was updated years ago so that you could only connect to a 5G tower if that's your subscribed product. So, power outages killed the local tower and killed the Rain connection completely. We would have zero throughput.

We've recently installed a generator at the business and something interesting, during load shedding the Rain 5G is still active. So one would have to conclude that the tower in question has newly acquired battery backup?

In addition to this newly acquired redundancy, the speeds have been outstanding! They've always been good but they've actually improved!!

I got to say, I continue to be immensely impressed by this product despite the general sentiment being one of disdain.

Looks like the whole Rain network is down. No connection on Rain simcards and rain.co.za not loading either.

I am in Durban on Rain 5G. Was working really well until 5 minutes ago. Red light and no connection.

Hi, we have just had a huge outage in KZN, we have teams on it right now, no ETR but we are working on it
