RAIN LTE-A: Speedtests

Am looking to buying the R600 plan from Rain. How are the speeds in Birchleigh?

Been getting 0.0Mbps for the last week and a half now.
I emailed the support contact over a week ago and still have not heard anything.
I pm'ed @rain_mobile 2days ago who responded immediatley that someone would contact me ASAP, still waiting...
Somethings wrong with this tower I connect to and it has been since the lockdown began a nightly occurence which I tolerated, now it is all day everyday.
How many months do your technicians require to look into it?
Try changing your channel in your Wi-Fi settings

Hi @kabusi

My apologies for all the trouble so far, could you please PM me with the email address that is linked to your rain account so that I can take a look into this matter for you.
Pm sent, as was done on Monday when I was advised by you that someone would get back to me asap. Still waiting...
We back to copy-paste responses with no resolution.

The tower clearly has capacity for HD streaming but they somehow see a need to just have a hard set limit instead of throttling only when there is strain

I been getting this ever since i had rain reason why i dont understand why people are so mad

and the unit is in the house not even on the roof

People are mad because they are not getting those speeds.

Pretty simple really.

Yeah i guess so, im actually dam happy with rain, think the most i have hit but late at night is around 545
upload could be better tho, Wonder who on here has the highest speed ?

So I get fed the, restart your device, move your device around, try another device nonsense by every support agent there is.
Seems like Rain does not invest in training them to traoubleshoot the actual issues at hand.
My upload speed can go as high as 50Mbps but download never goes higher than 0.5Mbps.
This was taken at 4am today yet Rain refuses to do anything in their side besides blame my location and devices.
I have been complaining since the lockdown began but it seems they just want to keep signing up new customers and then do nothing to align the infrastructure with the demand that they know they created by all the new signups.
When they say they are improving their network, all they are doing is rolling out sites to areas previously not covered in order to get more customers and increase profits.
Nothing will be done to improve the quality for existing customers who pay them every month for this appalling service.

1. How much are you paying for this?
2. I think because rain speeds have been poor but also streaming is at 360p or speed is capped on the other packages

Well this is the R250 one, just for one of my staffs kids to work at home and I’m impressed with this speed. I use 5G at the girlfriend and that motors along at 240mbps and 110mbps upload

But for this uncapped 19 hours 4G thing it works really well

I'm in Durban and doubt I'll get close to those speeds on and basically 4G is available in my area only.

Will buy a rain sim and test out some prepaid data soon.

Seriously this should not be allowed even as a best effort service.
It cannot be my location or device since the upload is pretty decent even for a Sunday afternoon and usually is most of the time.
Network operators should be regulated and forced to provide a minimum as well.
