Rain LTE with high gain antenna

I saw a video of someone using a high gain lte antenna with a rain sim and getting speeds up to 100mbps. I decided to test it out, ordered the antenna, activated and rica'd the sim, but rain has been upgrading their systems supposedly and my sim is neither active nor does it appear on my rain profile. Today is already the third day and still nothing. Calling customer service is a waste of time, one of the consultants even lied to me, gave me a fake name and told me they did not give call ref numbers. The 3 other times I got their standard response that it takes 2-24 hours for the sim to activate, 2-24 hours for customer service to get back to you, and still I haven't been contacted. It's been a terrible start. Out of curiosity, has anyone used rain with a high gain antenna?

I am using Rain with a Poynting Xpol-6-10 antenna. The thing is to get it proper aligned to the tower. I get anything between 6Mbps and 40Mbps during the day (R250 package). I am also like 5km from my nearest tower with line of sight.

I have used this as my guidance.

Yes, I find Rain doesn't work without it. But having said that, they've really screwed us over on the R250 package with throttled speeds on video files suddenly. Regardless of time of day, not even the antenna helps.

That video was most likely a bit old, but using an external antenna will at least guarantee connectable speeds these days.

The only way for you to reach anything above the 40's is with luck and location, specifically if you live in an outskirt area within a 5km range of a main road / highway tower and mounting your antenna high enough to clear obstacles and point to it, in addition to first choosing Band 38 to ensure the best results if there's a closer tower nearby overpowering the signal.

If everything works out in your favour, unfortunately you'll most likely be annoyed with the soft throttling they employ for streaming services and most recently, VPNs to bypass said restrictions, not to mention the occasional daily downtime their main servers have throughout the day. I don't recommend anyone to go through these procedures as it's just not worth it anymore like it used to be on lighter congestion and sans-restrictions. If one has absolutely no other choice and wants to do so anyway, at least the results will be palatable for regular use.
