So I just got the RAIN sim delivered. Looks like it's not activated immediately do I need to do something for them to activate or it's an automated 2 day process or something? Does RAIN use a custom APN?

Go to their website. Live cj at. Get one of the agents to activate for you.

Rain online chat and email support must be the worst in the country. They are totally clueless. I spoke to them about the issue that they did not add the uncapped off peak package to my account after I added it on the dashboard and also received an email confirming. They told me they will look into it. In the meantime I'm being charged for data usage.

Today I received an email from support advising me they cannot add the package because I must do it on my dashboard.

It was added on 29 July and it was confirmed !!! How incompetent can people be ?

Well, they would rather forego any revenue for the month than activate a uncapped request on the 1st so pretty much so.

My spend limit was set to R300, now suddenly it shows its R350.

I tried lowering my spend limit and it worked so hopefully I can just use off peak unlimited and not get charged once its 6pm

Hmm inconsistent representation by the system maybe, coz his combined usage is just 6Gigs

Ah that's cool. Wonder if the internet just dies at 6pm and wakes up at 11pm

About to test it now and see if its off , but with rain's system glitches , I wont be surprised that I'm charged

So it did work , had to use R1 to reach spend limit and now data has been paused after 6pm

I see you can now set your minimum spend limit to R250 if you have the uncapped option. That means you will be capped daily between 6pm and 11pm.

Pretty cool.

I think I will leave mine on R50 for peak usage just in case I need some data. That said I have used R15 already so my balance is R265 and if I want to reduce the spend limit now I can and cap the sim for peak usage. It allows me to set the minimum spend limit of R265 because of the R15 peak usage already.

Nice, was hoping that they would implement it like that eventually.

Just a quick question, if you set your spend limit to R250, that notification pops up whereby you need to confirm and accept. If you click the button, can you set your spend limit back up again, in case of emergency?

Average is about 5mb , its quite low , but if i change the frequency of the connection it goes up to 10mb uploas but download drops to about 40mbs

Thanks done this morning, connection is up. Performance seems a little better than my Telkom uncapped but then this is just an hour's experience. I must say my expectations on internet speeds have been kinda lowered by the performance of my Telkom LTE
