I have given up with this incompetent bunch of people. After providing then with a copy of the email where they (Rain) confirmed that I have subscribed to the unlimited package with effect from 31 July 2018 they now say I have not subscribed to the service.

Eish... I feel for you man!

Really unprofessional of them to be conducting business like that. If I were you, I'd ignore them all together and find a different provider with a proper capped solution.

Rain support is probably the worst there is.....

They not even online anymore, not that those numpties were of any use to a dying man........
Pathetic excuse for the word "support". Complete waste of time would be more apt.

So my sim cards got delivered yesterday after ordering on Saturday. It only activated this morning but seems to work really well.
I just wish we could actually follow the ordering process properly - instead of the generic "Order Processed" message.

I'm currently about 500m outside of their official coverage and the below is what I get. I suspect come 5 pm, I'll probably die a little, but we'll see how it goes.

You're lucky! I'm in full coverage on their map and I only get speeds of max 15Mbps

Ya, my parents (the actual people who'll be using the sim card) only get about 7Mbit down and 1Mbit up. At work, it's about 10Mbit down. My parents also have full coverage like you.

I suspect it's because both my parents and work is in a much more dense area than where I live.

Does anyone else experience a few hours(during the day, I have the uncapped off-peak hours package) of low speeds and much higher pings than usual? Been happening to me for the past few days. I'm in their coverage area as well.

Impossible upload speed.

That said I'm glad to report that the Spend limit function works very well actually. I pay my mums internet in Richards Bay so I control the spend limit from my side and she informed me she is capped during peak. Added another R50 to the spend limit and 3min or so later her internet was working again.

The spend limit works favorably for the user. If you have like R10 spend limit left you can do quite a lot of gigs before you actually get capped. Even if you have exceeded the amount data the billing won't be more. It shows the amount of gigs used equal to your set spend limit but you were able to use more.

How long does activation take once delivered and sim inserted in router? Do they activate over weekends (got it midday today)?

cavedog I’m planning on getting a Rain SIM. I already have a Huawei B618-65d. Is there any advantage to getting a B618-22d to use the Rain SIM in?

Yes there is because it will give you access to Band 38 which the Telkom B618 does not have. With the Telkom B618 you will only run Rain on band 3 which from my experience is pretty poor but not always. So if band 3 works well for you then great the Telkom B618 will work the same as a Rain B618 on band 3.

If band 38 gives good speeds you will lose out on that because you won't have access to that band.
