I have the same problemGood for you. I have one sim in the router and one in the cellphone. Not one is activated. I e-mailed them early today and they stated that sims will be activated in 2 - 4 hours. This did not happen. So I e-mailed (again and again) and they said it was escalated to 'management'. Sims still not active. Just as pathetic as Telkom.
It's quite the opposite for me where my rain speeds rarely exceed 3mbps these days where I started off with 20-25mbps and lately it just disconnects from the network randomly and when it re-connects speeds are crapI think cellular networks are just like that. In my case RAIN is a champ at over 50Mbps down and 20 up , whereas Telkom usually tops at 20-25 down and about 4 or so up. But others are getting 90+ down on Telkom
I see that.. I had over a month of free dataI see that Rain has a new website. New simcards only come with 7days free data days now and not 15 anymore.![]()
Also costs R50 now, not R120 anymore.I see that Rain has a new website. New simcards only come with 7days free data days now and not 15 anymore.![]()

After activationQuestions: Are the "unlimited data days" activated after you receive the sim card or as soon as you place your order? Also can Rain Mobile be used with any LTE smartphone?
My SIM card from Rain was activated this morning, however I’m not getting more than 3mbps when I use the speedtest app. I’m in the Athlone area in Cape Town and that seems to be in the middle of a coverage area.
The SIM card is in my iPad Pro and I’ve got a minimum of 3 bars signal on it.
Is this a realistic speed with this kind of signal ?
what happens to mobile data usage if you are in an area without rain coverage?
Obviously it will depend on signal but I reckon mostly on congestion. Rain runs 2 LTE frequency it might be that you are on Band 3 which everyone is using hence congested.
So nothing I can do about it I guess ?
Before 6pm I get bad speed on the 2600Mhz band (fixed LTE). Wham ! comes 6 pm it shoots up a lot.... very strange.I'm afraid not unless maybe you switch to a mifi device that can make use of Rain's 2600MHz frequency which might give you better speeds. You can try and find out if the iPad pro supports 2600MHz TDD LTE and if it does then try and find a way to foce it to change to that frequency.
