has anyone been able to get their rain sim activated immediately rather than having to wait the 24hours? I chatted to one of the guys and they said there is nothing they can do, its an automatic process but after reading some of the comments here, some people have had theirs up and running within an hour in some cases?

I ordered a few sims and never took more than 2 hours to activate

I waited over 24 hours. but maybe that was my courier getting lost and not saying its delivered.

Okay, so scratch what I said, my router has to be the problem, sadly. My phone as my router makes the upload speeds better. Gonna have to figure out whether I need a new router or can if I can fix my one. Its just strange how my upload speeds dropped the same time as many others around SA. Can't really understand it.

Just wanted to ask if you set your spend limit on Zero on the R250.00pm unlimited data. Does it only work offpeak hours if I go over the limit or does it stop all your internet?

Meaning at @23:00 It starts working till 18:00 then it just stops?

IIRC you have to set the spend limit to R250

My rain experience. I decided to check the site map to see if my house was covered, it wasn't! My house is the only house on the entire street that isn't in the coverage area. I shot of an email to rain telling them its currently raining 19 hours a day for my neighbors and i'm sitting here in 24/7 drought, what the bloody damn hell???

They quickly got back to me (props to them, they always gave me speedy replies) saying i am just outside the coverage area and that i might still be able to get service, i should go ahead and purchase the sim to try. It came a day or two after ordering and was activated after 24 hours.

I insert the sim and nothing, i walked around my entire house and outside and still nothing. I took it to work it connected to the rain network and used up the 7 free days , the sim now sits in a draw with its spend limit set to zero and me checking the coverage map everyday.:(

What device do you have the SIM in? Have you tried a router with external antenna?

What modem do you use? I know someone who had the same issue with those portable WiFi routers, he got a proper Huawei B618 and it connected with two bars signal, it's not great but he still manages to pull between 10-20Mbps on a good day, but never less than 5Mbps.

Try picking one up on Gumtree and see if it works, if you have the money.

Sorry,

This may have been asked before but when you upgrade your Rain to uncapped, do you pay the R250 cap limit + R250 every month making it R500? OR is the uncapped option included in the R250 pm?

The uncapped deal is R250 pm, so it's only R250 pm.. You'll pay more if you use data that are not part of the uncapped terms and agreements.

so if i increase my spend limit to R250 do i get the 5 gigs of data as well as the uncapped option, or do i not get the 5gigs but have the uncapped option?
