Rain Mobile Feedback Thread

I don't think this is going to last. Telkom LTE is uncapped and is around R525 to R799 (depending if your new or taking over someone's contract)

their FUP is 300gig odd (+-)

Rain for R250. I think it's beginning stages but their FUP will propably be closer to the 100gig mark (that's my guess)

Cause if you compare their Capped packages which is 55gig for R550 (so around R10 per gig).

my guess is 100gig FUP

Will depend on load. Makes no difference in cost equipment wise up to a certain number of users per POP/tower so they will flood the market to try and gain market share. Also, most heavy users will want to utilize it during the peak hours: streaming , gaming etc which makes it affordable for a phone but not a primary home link so the Fixed LTE packages will maintain that space. Now if they offered fixed LTE and a uncapped option like ADSL products, that could do some serious damage.

bearing in mind they arent mucking about with voice and sms. not a super techie, but the lack of voice seems to be the game-changer?

How long does it take Rain to reset forgotten password? Still waiting since this morning when the consultant mentioned he would escalate to relvant department....
It's been 10 days and I'm still waiting

Hi Guys

If I take 3 Sims and pay the R250 for uncapped data, can you download stuff with all 3 sim cards.

Or must you pay R250 for each sim card to get uncapped data.

AFAIK, you'll need to add the R250 package for each sim.

The landscape has changed now, and data is cheaper than ever to deliver. Plus, the way we're using the net has changed dramatically - those R50/GB peak times are seriously lucrative.

Ten years ago, traffic would start tapering off from 6PM and onwards. Five years ago, the Netflix time bump wasn't so pronounced.

Just received an SMS that my sim will be delivered today. It was scheduled for tomorrow. I dont have my ID with me. I hope they accept my driver license...

Delivered!

So I take it they accepted drivers license ? They refused mine and came back a second time when I had exactly what they wanted, but the SIM # for the delivered sim did not match the one on my dashboard (which was set to deactivated anyway) so after 40 minutes on website support (ok, 35 minutes queue, 5 minutes chat) chat they escalated my problem. Also initially assumed that they would accept a rental agreement but it was not accepted due to 3 month date limit (got away with rental agreement with 3 month proof of address requirements with various mobile companies before).

Not too bad. I think things will improve once the early birds exhausted the 15 free internet days then it will probably get better. Considering the order number is in excess of 6200 means there is 6200 simcards that have unlimited data for 15. It's quite a bit so we will see going forwards how things work out. I'm keeping mine. Very happy with it and if there is a month that I don't need it I will just click and change it accordingly :)

My speed during peek sucks.... Not that I would ever download in this time but still:

LOL, that speed is awesome compared to mine during peak:

Seems like that B618's CA really makes a huge difference. I haven't downloaded yet during peak hours (also don't intend to either after the 15 free days). I only do off-peak and then my speed is minimum 30mb + which is more than acceptable for me :)
