Rain Mobile Feedback Thread

Going to give this a go. Hoping it works okay with my Nokia 6, not willing to gamble on getting one of Rain's devices and finding out that my signal isn't good.
 
Rain mobile is absolutely pathetic when I comes to customer service and a bit on their network side as well.

I first ordered 3 sims, all 3 sims got delivered but only two got activated after 24 hours. I spoke to them on Facebook about the one sim not working and told me that they are looking into it. A week goes by with no feedback even after sending multiple messages again on Facebook and all getting ignored.

I then sent them an email about multiple issues that I've been having with them and all I got back was,
"We apologize for the inconvenience however, you only placed an order for two sim card and paid for them now because of that only those two sim cards we're activated" and "Your inquiry has been resolved" when it clearly has not.

Why do they tell me that I've only ordered two sim cards when I have clearly ordered three when It shows me on my order and I got three sims delivered?!

Another thing that is completely crap on their network is that they don't allow unrestricted APN's, so you will not have an open NAT if you're gaming, I can't even mine bitcoin on nicehash anymore since I have started using them, I can't have any external access to my network due to them not providing each customer with a public IP.

Other than the unlimited data package that they offer, they are completely RUBBISH.

I have not had one single day of good service from them.
 
I don't know if this has been asked before. When the free days (mine on 15/7) ends and you subscribe to the R250 uncapped deal will you pay the full R250 for the month or just a pro rata amount ?
 
My SIM is throttled to 100kb/sec this evening. Dashboard says I've done 12GB for the month.
 
Hi guys, got my sim and mifi delivered yesterday, been more tan 12 hours still not activated and also doesn’t show delivered on their website? Any suggestions on how to proceed? Would really like to get it activate for the weekend!

I first emailed Rain to confirm this. Not receiving a reply I went to online chat. Online chat said I will only be charged for the portion of the month after the free days expires. Now I receive a reply to my email query and I'm being told I will pay the full R250 for the portion of the month that is left. Now who do I believe ?? :confused:

Got a message at 07:27 this morning that RAM will deliver the SIM, but now their tracking page says "RAMMobile NonDelivery -." at 16:21.

This is the third time I've had this with RAM couriers despite being at home all day.

Same here. They later emailed me with some explanation saying even if I take the R250 addon now it will only start from the 1st of next month

The unlimited off-peak plan is R250 a month and get 19 hours of unlimited data between 11pm and 6pm. Data used during 'peak hours' 6pm - 11pm will be charged at R50 a gig. It is a add on and does have a standard price of R250 a month, If the unlimited off peak plan is taken half way through the month it will only kick in on the 1st of the following month as it is per a month

Had a similar issue when I had mine delivered. Go on their website and chat to their online support, they'll ask you for the sim number which is the last few digits after all the zero's. All I needed to do after that was restart my device and it was activated.

Hi I got it activated like this! Took 2 hours to activate though! But now I have a question about my mifi device, I bought the Huawei E5885, loving it so far but with speed tests last night the highest I got was just over 10mbps and I have heard of people with the same setup getting much faster speeds? I played around with the setting but it doesn’t give me me the options to change LTE bands only “channels” that go from 5-11. I tried every combo I could bit the max speed I could get was 10mbps.
PS I’m in CT Southern Subs.

Use the Huawei Band tool on a windows, mac or linux pc to force specific bands.
 
i generally get around the 30-40mbit mark (besides the 6pm to 11pm story... where some throttling happens.)
 
So much have you guys done.. I'm just under 100 gig and it's just about half way through the month

For the remainder of the month, you’ll continue with your selected plan of R250 unlimited off-peak, prorate.

This plan gives you 19 hours of unlimited data, daily, between 11pm and 6pm. During 'peak hours' 6pm – 11pm, you pay the usual R50 a gig, which you can control on your dashboard.




Remember, for the simplest way to manage your rain account, add and remove unlimited off-peak and amend your spend, simply log onto your rain dashboard. You will also be able to view your rain number and verify your SIMs ICCID number (physical SIMs unique identifier) here.
