Rain R379 cellphone only package

check it out fam, please try clearing all your browsing history then visit the website again. I had the same issue earlier on for some reason it was still loading the old website, but after doing that it was sorted. I know its got something to do with cache but I'm not an expert with that.

360P may be fine for people on feature phones.

For people with the latest iPhones and Galaxy phones, probably not so. Then again, if you can afford those phones you could probably afford another internet package.

Not defending rain, just some perspective. I'm really not sure what their overall coverage is like and if there's widespread coverage over less-afluent areas where people may make use of something like this.

Make me understand here ... the 250 package you can hotspot yes ... but the 380 package you can’t ... what’s the difference the only thing is the time 6 - 11 ... but by then you downloaded most of what you wanted to watch or whatever unless you a data junky ... I mean you can can only do so much or download so much on a phone even if you stream I mean your battery so honestly it’s not a very thought about deal or package in my opinion yes it says you can’t hotspot but believe me people ... there is a way ... there was always a way ... as long as rooting and jailbreaking is available not even Apple themselves can keep a jailbreaking away ... so that’s what I think ...

Plus we already have problems with the packages Rain is giving us or whatever you call it ... no point on putting more out there is we already struggling with what you offer now ...

In court you lost to misleading 5g and speeds to say you have to take it off from the website so tell me about what makes this deal worth it ... we want internet and freedom to use what we pay for ... I mean the market is big out there and to have congestion problems in this age is really bad ...

Most of us are waiting on fibre or have better data deals ... trust me if we get that we go there ...

Right now with current infra, it's kind of a worse deal than the R250 yes. Not having to abide by the 19 hour rule is a nice thing of course and for cheaper, but most people will never push past 10mbps and you can't even push 1mbps on streaming sites due to the resolution restriction, and bypassing the handset + tethering blocks are really pointless (and I might add, those people that are being targeted as city go-getters most likely won't be outside after 18:00 anyways). I'd personally much prefer if they had introduced this exact package but for home routers at around R800 as I can get good speeds out of it and wouldn't mind, but they did launch this for a reason so I trust they find good success with it. Here's to hoping for the Black Friday deal hehe

It would be awesome if rain sorted out esim. No brained really and it gives you a proper edge.

It could be the majority of network devices don’t support it so I can understand why they don’t invest into it.

That said, I’m still looking for an excuse to activate rain again, the R250pm was awesome for me, I only
Stopped because I got the Telkom 1TB.

The only thing I dislike is the inability to forward ports.

I have Vodacom in my area I get 5 bars and 80 Mbps +
On Rains network I get 4-5 bars but I get 1+ Mbps but hey keep telling yourself that
You obviously don’t have a rain sim yourself because if you did you’d realize it’s f*cking k*k

the real reason rain is selling the unlimited 4g packages is to fund their 5g network...why can’t they just use the money to fund customer support service and to upgrade the existing 4g network???90%of their customers are using the 4g unlimited package...
Just tell me what isp do you use ??

Listen, mate our is to initially provide an affordable connection to the average user, we are trying to make the internet accessible to everyone. I feel like I've been saying the same thing forever now, there is still work that needs to be done on the Network side of things and we are improving capacity, also in addition to that, we do not have any contracts dawg you are not put into any long term commitments.

So I get that, but going back to "Please provide me with the email address linked to your Rain account" had a bunch of other people annoyed simply because of the robotic nature of the response.

So again, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Chief, forget "rain" for sec, it's life you can't make everyone happy. Have your goals set and stay true to yourself.
with that said our goal is to provide an affordable service for the people. Everything seems impossible until it actually gets done. So yes there is a lot of work to be done, but we are getting our hands dirty and we ready to put in that work.

It's been 2 years now I've been getting subpar speeds.

First 6 months or so it was excellent (joined since inception).

“Accessible” Means everyone can actually use it but with rain half of the time it takes 10 minutes to actually just load up the website also i can think it’s super professional to call a client “dawg” as if I’m your friend from school??

It’s really nice that rain try’s to make cheap data packages but at least be honest with customers and say hey we tryna improve the quality of the service

Rain=quantity over quality

I'm glad they were taken to book with the average speed thing.

Not sure but I do know this:
1. Americans have always been able to block hotspotting on phones. from the days when they started offering unlimited plans. They used to call it "No tethering".
2. Every device needs an IP address, I guess they could block additional IP addresses on the specific sim.

Point 1 might work but I doubt rain is that sophisticated.

Point 2 makes no sense, when you hotspot your device it assigns internal natted dhcp non routable ips to the devices connecting to it. You still operate all devices over the single public assigned ip.

Lol on your remarks about point one.

For point 2, as has been mentioned here, deep packet inspection can single you out for multiple IP addresses.

Hi All

Okay on the real though this back and forth was insightful, and what I will do from now on, is actually ask how would you like to be addressed so that I can cater to both parties and give you a good service, depending on what you like.
I think that's the best way forward?

As you would a customer walking into your shop, and your shop being 1 of 10 similar shops in a row, selling the same thing , but theirs is a little bit better :)
