Rain slow speeds and poor support explained

...but nothing wrong with their debiting your account for a service that doesn't work as advertised - a good case for a consumer class action suit against this mob and their useless "customer care" outfit.

How difficult is it to stop this debiting of your account? Since one is not bound by a contract.

“All you can eat buffet”
..... Mmmm nope. Not a chance when your tower has you running at dial up speeds.
You can get better bandwidth from the ether using a wire coathanger than this outfit raining on your parade,

Rain in Phoenix, doesn't even reach 2mb, on any speed test.
Oudtshoorn "rain" barely dishes out 1.6 mbs/ps, when connected and that's a rare treat....sent it back to Takealot who secured a full refund of the R1 card as well as the first "month's" charge - they took within a nanosecond of registration by rain to boot....now that's good consumer rights protection!

Hi @JimM

May you please provide me with your email address via PM, let’s see what we can do for you

Thank you for your concern but I have since moved this data connection to Telkom Mobile.

However, the few subscribers that you have left in Stilbaai (Western Cape) would be delighted to have you fix your towers, none of which work now. For Rain service we are reliant on the weather!

When using rain on a normal basis am getting 30 MBps on average , HOWEVER the moment start to Download a movie via u torrent its slows to about 57 kpbs !!! never happened when I was with Telkom , can someone please explain why ? Thanks
You got an answer?

I complain a lot but truth is there is nothing that can touch this product so I roll with the punches. Technical support received using MyBB forums as a springboard (@rain_mobile @rain_networks) has been excellent. At least in my case.
Agreed. No other product offers what Rain does and fibre networks have failed consumers in providing for the demand.

Rain needs to stop selling LTE products, period! Stop moving backwards and continue to claim to be in an evolved advanced state of LTE, what you give is similar or worse than HSDPA, yes that 3g "hot" tech back in the day.
But they do sell LTE products. LTE is a technology, not a speed.

At the moment I cannot complain. But I do feel for the others who does. You just can't have a product where one user gets all the speed and the other user get basically nothing. I would rather limit each user to a specific speed so that each user has good experience. Also limit how many users can connect to a tower. If that tower is full just don't allow anymore to it! Don't over subscribe it!

I think the R250 package is causing the issue here as there is basically no restrictions to it. I would re-align all the packages to specified "up to" speeds. I also lately see that more companies get the R250 packages for business use. Why not have a option for the home user and business user?

Just my thoughts...
Implementing shaping never works correctly. There is no reason to limit anybody as that just ensures a worse experience for all. Besides a correctly implemented network doesn't need it and when the average speed is less than the limit it's a useless restriction in any case. Limiting the number of users on a tower is just unworkable and will result in the same complaints you see here.

LTE has been sacrificed by rain to enable 5G, yes you can call it a technology, but if it doesn't live up to spec, is it really? A broken Galaxy s20 ultra is just a super expensive, branded, paper weight.

I don't know what you mean by "sacrificed" but if Rain doesn't move to 5G then 4G will just continue to become more saturated.

"All you can eat buffet" - more like you charged the whole town for dinner but only cooked one pot of curry.

Definitely not all you can eat.

They have been hard throttling torrents for sometime and it's even affecting gaming so just run away.
