Rain Uncapped - Slow connectivity to all Google services

Google services is extremely slow. Wow. I'm using my mifi at work full signal 30Mbps speestest but google just does not load.
Some people on this forum don't want us to talk about this. They want us to only say positive things about rain even when we have inconsistent internet connection. You can restart the router or change the bands and devices it still has issues. Yet we must not say anything about it?

that cloudflare.v4 stage seems to be the culprit - Djibouti. But I am out of my depth in this - just an observation.

Yeah also not sure but I did some tests, I just had to fire up a VPN connection was very slow when I got home on all Google services but Netflix was working fine and speed test was showing 15 down and 8 up.

Djibouti is an East African country. Telkom is also routing to them. Worst possible place just like Kigali. This should just affect Cloudflare websites like Mybroadband, takealot.com and others. 1.1.1.1 DNS should still be from JHB, DUR or CPT.

Google still peers fine in JHB with Rain so not sure why it's so slow.

I thought YouTube Vanced was acting up. Would have unistalled if it wasn't for this thread. I wonder if Rain is aware.

Does this also include smart youtube - no joy on it past couple of days.

I think they are aware or that would mean their employees are using MTN or Telkom on their devices :D

Might very well find they throttling users speeds on it as some abuse the google old unlimited google drives.

The way it behaves its not throttling, it is connection issues, its as if it cant locate the google server ip addresses.

I

If you do a Speedtest to google what does it show ?
Have not done that but once mine connects to google services after multiple reloads it works flawlessly. Youtube might take multiple reloads to connect but once it does i watch at 1080p without buffering. Also drive downloads use maximum download speed the network allows. So its not throttled its something else

Something unusual is happening here, so I visited a friend of mine yesterday, their Rain works just fine! Google services connect without any long wait.
So I arrived home, tried YouTube and it took so long to connect, I think this is only affecting some people.

I'm on the R250 uncapped and I've been having extremely slow connectivity to any Google service (Google search, youtube, Android updates, play store, google apis etc) for the past few days.
This only happens on the Rain network, if i switch to ADSL, it's perfect.

I use Cloudflare DNS for both the Rain and ADSL, and I even tried using Google's DNS so I doubt its a DNS issue. Also tried restarting the router and switching bands between 1800 and 2600 mhz. Nothing helps.
I'm in Durban, if that makes any difference.

Requests to any google service just seem to stall and only work after a few retries.
This affects quite a few websites, as alot of sites nowadays use Google font's or have some Google integration.

Anyone else getting this?

Are they on the old Rain fixed LTE or Rain mobile? A friend of mine on the old Rain packages has no issues.

The Rain Support is also a mess recently. Logged this same issues you are all having with them, as having them as well in Centurion. They want you to move router and remove sim and put it back and all kinds of nonsense. then 30 minutes later they 'escalate it to tier 2 support', which never gets back to you a week later, once you say you already reported the issue to this 'tier 2 support' they stop replying, twitter, fb and their own chat, same story.

Yeah, I got Rain Uncapped yesterday and instantly noticed the issue. It's either slow or it takes multiple attempts to load whatever Google service.

For those still experiencing this, especially with Huawei Routers, try changing frequencies in the WLAN Advanced Settings section. I changed my frequencies to 8 and no issue with Google anymore.

I tried complaining to customer care using the chat feature on the Rain App and the connection timed out.
