Ramaphosa explains 'Boer' comment

his argument could basically be summed up as "if you don't vote, we can be conquered again."

Not quite. His argument is that if you don't vote, then Afrikaans people will come to power and apartheid will return.

What a fscking moronic, arsewhipe this bloke is becoming...

i was waiting for his explanation and refrained from commenting on the other threads because i thought it was being blown out of proportion. his argument was wrong and misleading, but it was unintentionally racist. it doesn't hurt to admit it wasn't intentionally racist, his argument was still stupid

In other news the Zille just said vote to stop the blacks. That's how it equates to me. He meant boere as white Afrikaners. I don't care how much back pedalling he is doing, that what he meant when he said it.

i read it in the context of "shoot the boer", not actual people but the struggle. but that is what his explanation sounded like to me too, so if people think he is a racist, so what? he shouldn't be a politician

"If you don't vote, the boers will come back to control us," Ramaphosa apparently said in Seshego.

"My comments were not meant to refer to a particular section of our population, and it is unfortunate if such an impression was created.

uhm....okay...but you did specifically mention a particular section of our population...

wasn't there a big debate about her "refugee" comments? if it was straightforward then there wouldn't be mistranslation.

anyway, i interpreted it differently, that is why i waited and his explanation states that he meant it the way i first took it. doesn't make his argument any less wrong, just paints a different picture on it for me

Like the rest of them he is just racist ilk! Nothing better nothing less!

or having any opinion that is different to Gary

If it was just me, it would be no big deal, but constantly assuming a position that is contrary to that of the majority of posters simply for the thrills of generating controversy... That's Trolling. LancelotSA used to do it, and he got banned for it. History repeats itself.

So show us a pic of what he really "painted" in your eyes, also do not forget the correct colour of the paint!

Please leave Zuma's spear out of this. LOL!

Who, Ramaphosa?

yes

"In my conversation with a Seshego resident, I warned of the danger of the country going backwards(to apartheid where we had no vote), and used a term that has commonly been used by black South Africans to refer to the erstwhile apartheid regime(shoot the boer, to hell with afrikaans, etc)," he said in a statement.

bolded bit is mine. it doesn't make it right, it's a translation and cultural error. it's how i took it. if you disagree then we disagree

The majority is often wrong on this forum when political issues are discussed. Their twisted views are simply unopposed because most people hold the same view, so anyone opposing them is seen as trolling and that's why lance was banned, he wasn't trolling he made good points but many shouted him down and unfortunately he was weak and constantly earned himself infractions for insulting them.

so you are in actual fact stating that i am NOT anti-racism, pro-life, pro-freedom of religion, pro-guns and self defense, anti-child abuse, anti-corruption, etc. you are saying i barge into a thread to disagree with people? that my views are not constant?

The key though is whether the poster actually believes that position or whether he is just doing it to be otherwise.
In both these cases I think it is the latter.

As the poster above said, it is fairly obvious which position you will take in any given thread, and it is usually the controversial and opposite one.
Pretty much without fail.

please PM me with any further complaints as to not derail the threads in future please

A translation and cultural error? Really, now? He's not a uneducated redneck. He knows exactly what he said, to who, and about whom.

You really need to stop trying to defend these clowns. Sometimes you can call a spade a spade. It was a scummy move and should be called as such, not a mere misunderstanding.
