Random phone call from 084145

This made me find the reject number function on my phone so hopefully no more calls.

I just had a call exactly the same

Hi "SmellyCelly" if you do not wish to receive marketing communication of any form from Cell C, please PM me your number and we will remove it from our mailing list.*DM*

Here's a list of blocked numbers that I have blocked so far... 17 and counting.
Thanks to iOS7 it gets easier to get rid of these scumbags.

Just got my first random 084145 phone call a few minutes ago. What freaked me out was that I could clearly hear an office environment for a few seconds before the call went through to an IVR system asking me how I would rate the service received.

Totally nutters. But now I expect something horribly bad to happen to me - identity theft, unwanted contract, illegal sim swap, or some random kid showing up and calling me dad.

No you don't have to be that scared.... Its just cellc direct that was going to offer you a contract.....

:wtf:

I have received a few calls from 084145 over the last few days. I tried to call back now and get told the number doesn't exist? The call I missed and the call I made were 1 minute apart, that number certainly still exists.

I don't see why Cell C would be trying to offer me a contract, I already spend well over R1k per month on two contracts with them...

Got a call from this number as well just now. Lady said she is from Cell C and tried to sell me a contract.

084 145 is listed on their site as Contracts and Upgrades (http://www.cellc.co.za/contact-us) and it makes sense, I'm due for a renewal :)

Yeah I spend like 1k a month with them but they still phone me and offer me contracts saying I can give the phone to a friend of family member....

Who gives a new contract phone to a friend....

Just got a call from this number. Naturally I clicked reject since if it's not a number I know or someone I'm expecting to call me then it's more than often someone trying to sell me something.

What seems stupid though (based on the comments in this thread). I'm on Vodacom, not CellC. Only thing I can think that could tie me to CellC was the fact that I have an FNB device (PS4), which came with a CellC sim card, which I don't use.

Hi

Please PM me if the calls persist. We will remove the number from marketing list.

Thanks

Just received my first call from 084145. You can hear the call center environment in the background, however there's no response on the call.

Believe it or not, they pre-programme your number randomly for an operator to speak to you. While the operator is finishing off another call, the "machine" randomly dials you. You get the music because you are on hold waiting for the said operator to pick up the call. Or so they told me. It is the most ridiculous, irritating system for which I suppose some brainless clowns fall. The deals are designed to lock you into 24 month contracts. Nothing less.

The operator had the gall to tell me that this is deal is customised for me.

In my case I had a call the day before with someone wanting me to upgrade. When this lass tried this special deal for me, it was the straw that broke the camels back.

The person selling the device doesn't know the first thing about the device they're trying flog on you or whether it is appropriate for you.

Deviate from the sales pitch and the person is completely lost.

Ask them about the battery life of the device and they'll tell you about the number of minutes included in the bundle.

Ask them about the OS of the device and they'll tell you how much data is included in the bundle.

Tell them the device they're offering is inferior to the one you have and they'll scramble for the other 2 devices they're trying to flog on the day. Needless to say, they were also inferior.

I have asked to be removed from their marketing list. I am not holding my breath.

PS. In all cases I have restrained myself immensely to remain cordial and polite.

Hi Nixxie

The call you received was from from our Direct Sales department. We can request for your details to be removed from marketing lists to stop them from contacting you in future. Please provide your details and we will address.
