Hey there,

Anyone having issues with downloading from rapidshare?

Either i get "the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." or the download session is immediately invalid...

We're being charged the earth for bandwidth, why can't we have it!

eh? you sure you use the correct username and password?

mine is still cruizing

He's most likely on the free rapidshare service, which hasn't worked for months now. I know people (like me) who can't get the service to work on all browsers, machines and connection types (Adsl, iBurst etc...same error).

I won't get into the silly arguing about whether the service is bad or not (which is very flawed since the only people defending it are always those who are on it's premuim service) but I will say the if a demo for a game doesn't work properly there certainly will be people less likely to buy the full version.

As for a solution, there isn't one from what I've heard. I get the same errors almost at random with a few days of error free downloading followed by MONTHS of unusable service. (And like I mentioned above, this seems to happen regardless of what connection, browser or pc I use)

I concur with Basjohn! I'm sure its a Rapidshare scheme to try get you to upgrade to a premium account. I've even tried tor and other proxy's to download and get all sorts of errors stating that I could do it IF i was a premium member. BASTARDS!!! COMMIE BASTARDS!!! hence why I stay away from Rapidshare and the like.

you sure they don't work based on country? I know when I was using the "free" service I would always get a error telling me that my internet has reached it's maximum capacity for the month... or something along the line

I'm using the premium service... best value for money (if you living in SA) since torrents was invented!!!!

I couldn't agree any more with you! It's prob the best thing available for us iBurst users too...

It used to work on iBurst in Cape Town (well it still does, almost perfectly) but the free service is completely dead on ADSL. It sees every user from the same proxy IP (somewhere in Parow, so the whole of CPT I presume) and you have basically 0 chance of ever getting the 1 slot for your IP.

In JHB it seems iBurst has the same problem since a few months ago?

I've always been able to download files from the free servers. It's just such a schlep with the waiting times, wrong access codes, etc that I also use their premium service. Works flawlessly. :)

ya just take the plunge and get a account for a year... it's only R600 odd!

I don't get rapidshare: we are limited in int. bandwidth plus there are monthly costs

i know a local place i got 300GB with full 450KB/s speed so

well I find when I use iburst with the 64k throttle, I usually hit around 15-20gigs a month.

My dl's with RS downloads usually stays around 120Kbps when unthrottled and 12Kbps when throttled. This is the ONLY reason why I havent' gone the dsl route...

This is the same and only reason why I am with iBurst ;)

Question: If you buy a booster after being softcapped and having gone a few GB over limit on 64kbps, will that booster not cancel out some of the NEGATIVE balance you've accummulated instead of reseting that to zero and giving you and extra 1G, 500MB, 3GB whatever? (After going over your cap you get a Negative value).

I was worried about the same thing once, but I'm very sure that I bought an extra gig and got the full amount. Even though I had been capped for a while and using the 64kb.

Is there anyone else here who has a rapidshare premium account who is having problems with speeds and problems with resuming downloads. Just want to know if it's a rapidshare problem or an Iburst issue.
