*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Greenside. Joburg.

This is definately a problem. Youtube stuttering since yesterday. Tonight I cannot listen to a 56kbit _local_ stream.

I did the debugging on my side. Rebooted router. Closed other apps. Rebooted modem. I even tested it via phone on my local wireless. Your helpdesk droid insists that we need to eliminate router as a cause first. If I do that I cannot call him on my iBurst VOIP phone while doing the test on my computer.

I'm on a 2Mbit modem with excellent reception normally. I manage 1.5Mbit even during torrential downpours. It is not the weather.

Pings (latency) look allrright. Download and uploads to local speedtest server all but ceased to work.

my next question is its now been 3 days that i couldnt have used the internet and each day 1 get 1 gig of fair usage is that gonna stack up or am i gonna loose that 3 gig cause according to the website on my logs im loosing that 3 gig cause i couldnt use the internet

I have not yet had any issues with my new shiny 2MB modem. Until Monday this week when the problem started. Download speeds were 1/4 of what I normally get my upload speeds seem to be "ok" but again about 1/2 of what they normally are. I do understand weather is a major factor with wireless and I can accept the fact that sometimes it's going to be horrible but this is not weather related at all. My signal is 100% watching the webpage for the new modem it doesn't budge from there and packet loss sits between 0%-3% which imo is not bad for a wireless solution.

I've rebooted I have unplugged the modem for an entire evening and used 3G instead and still tonight I cannot use it at all for anything that requires a stable connection. I am also in the JHB area. Speed tests below seem to be better than others I have seen here so far but i Normally sit at around about 180kb/s download and 52 Kb/s upload.

The network status page is out of date so I doubt whether it's accurate. My connection is just very unstable and seems to stop and go when browsing or gaming...it sucks :( my wife is going away this weekend and the interweb is broken :(

For the past 3 days the speed has been crap, averaging at 8kbps. I did a speed test and it shows 50kbps dl speed but this is not during youtube videos which BitMeter shows less than 8kbps which is utter rubbish.

This is what gets me. Everyone says that there is no shaping/restrictions being applied.

But come midnight to morning when everyone is supposed to be leeching the crap out of the network, I get a constant http://www.speedtest.net/result/1689412996.png (every night)

Yet comes 7am the speed just drops to http://www.speedtest.net/result/1688289621.png

What is the use of having an internet connection you cannot use for work during the day?

I don't care about full speed at night, cause that is when I sleep. Sigh.

Just tested mine again and

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1697 kbps (212.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 523 kbps (65.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 114 ms

but i bet when i get home its back to rubbish speeds as it has been the whole week.

Im unable to raid in WoW today, I lag out and get disconnected. Congestion?

Got home and the speeds are back to slow-mo again.

This Morning
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1697 kbps (212.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 523 kbps (65.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 114 ms

After Work still 100% Signal haven't touched my router
Last Result:
Download Speed: 514 kbps (64.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 326 kbps (40.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Can't game at all just constant spiking on latency 250....then 1000... :(

Using the http://www.gam.co.za speed test. I can post speedtest.net results as well says the same thing :(

Like it says on the bottom of the Speedtest homescreen "Are you getting what you have paid for?"

Simple answer is "No!".

Well at the moment I am not however as my first speed test indicated I am able to get full speed on my 2MB modem but thats only in the morning, then later during the day it just dies, I was very happy with the 2MB modem but as from the start of this week it is a waste of money as I am running less than my older 1MB modem speeds.

I just want to game....wife is away this weekend and now I am stuck with wasting money on 3G ...bleh

Im having the same problem just trying to play starcraft 2 constant lag outs game doesnt even want to log in some times

Just tested a video out on YouTube and it plays fine. I doubt the speed will stay this way considering the feedback from above.
