I’m experiencing similar problems. I’m situated in Northcliff Ext 21 Jhb. I’m connecting to the waterval tower situated on the top of Greymont. I cannot seem to use skype any time of the day. When I’m home trying to make calls, usually between 6 and 9 at night my connection is to slow for VOIP. ( I tried making calls on 1st 2nd an 3rd this month)
I installed an external i-burst antenna on my roof, although I had very good signal. This didn’t seem to make any difference.
Is there a problem with the waterval tower, maybe overloaded?
Is there anything I can do to improve my signal, ping so that I can make calls via VOIP.

A fibre outage outside of the iBurst network resulted in a major incident which is affecting our ability to provide technical and accounts support to customers. The outage occurred on the link between our primary and secondary data centres. Our technicians are working at restoring all functionality and we are expecting all services to be back up and running later today. This has impacted our CRM systems including our call centre, billing, website self service applications and provisioning of static IP addresses.
