*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

My gripe with a service message like that, is why it is not on their actual web page, but on social media pages (or here after some complaints). Not everyone has Facebook or Twitter or TwitFace. But still a little good to know they communicate somewhere at least.

Still don't believe it was "a undersea cable fault"...
They easily blame it to an undersea cable problem, because a problem with that is "out of their control"..
Now you tell me, if there is a problem with the undersea cable, how come that only Iburst customers are affected and non of the other ISP?
Since the Icasa issue, there has been problems about every second day, but they won't admit that...

The Twitter and Facebook channels do make sense: in both cases, the accounts are public (i. e., you do not have to have an account to see them; just bookmark the pages), both are accessible (via web, mobile-friendly sites, and apps) on the widest possible range of devices so are usable with minimum bandwidth on secondary connections and devices, and both are independent of iBurst's own sites and network.

As to iBurst's Facebook post,

On Monday we experienced another undersea cable fault which has attributed to the problems that some of our customers are currently experiencing. We have in the interim acquired additional capacity that will help restore functionality as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work on this.

I think they probably mean "contributed" (a thing is "attributed" to its causes or those responsible for it). But perhaps the budget doesn't extend to a dictionary.

So last night Before midnight i was sitting with below dial up speeds no matter what i tried, even called the (lack of)Helpdesk they insisted nothing was wrong even though it took forever to get through to them, and a few people mentioned same problems on Facebook.

Anyway cheked networx report for after Midnight and lo and behold full speeds.
So why exactly am i getin gpathetic speeds normal hours, they are really throtaling me?

I have to take back what I said in previous posts, I set my dns to automatic and recent poor performance of the last few days disappeared. FYI the assigned dns are 41.213.80.14, 196.46.70.10 I think only relevant to Joburg area.

Very erratic today. Sometimes images load, sometimes they don't. I have to reload pages over and over again.

Iburst have a history of keeping quiet or not being totally honest when issues arise. I presume they do not want to put too many incidents on their Incident Report because it would not look good to prospective subscribers.
And yes - I thought 'has attributed' was used instead of simply 'contributed'. Thought it was just me being picky, so glad to see Psychopompous commented on it.
And what prompts me to see what this forum is saying? My signal continues being badly inconsistent - streaming music regularly bombs out and response from some websites is in fits and starts. Not much wiser now ...Sigh ..................

I had mine set to automatic, and still had issues (and I did clear the DNS cache during that period).

I would just love it if their actual website also got the occasional update of information.

Indeed. They could even simply embed their Twitter feed on the website.

I considered that explanation too, not just for the typical silence on the website, but for the delay in acknowledging issues on the social media sites (since anyone doing a simple search for "iBurst" is likely to get the Twitter page high in the results).

I see that i still cannot install diabloIII with an iburst connection. I really thought this would have been fixed long time ago.

Please do something iburst. Iam not gonna pay again for 3G because your connection doesn't work.

Edit:

After 2 days of timeouts i got it to work last night.

Well I see Planetside 2 has gone to sh*t again on iburst! very awesome...

It works perfectly well when using 3g from my phone, so I would love to hear why this just randomly happens every couple of months?

Speed is certainly not the issue.. I download the entire 8 GBs for the Planetside 2 install again last night.
Still screwed up, and it still works fine on my phone..

Same here.. finally have a moment to spare to jam some planetside 2, but iburst says no :(

Yup, lets hope someone at iBurst decides to take a look and let us know if it can be fixed sometime soon.

SOE just gave away free 1 month memberships to a lot of people, and I was one of them and now this happens.
Pretty awesome timing there!

The last time I paid for a 1 month PS2 sub iBurst had the same issue 2 weeks into it and I ended up wasting the last 2 weeks.

Its really strange, since my speeds are through the roof at the moment, no complaints there, its the packet loss.
But it really is a hassle when I can play this game for a month straight just for my ISP to have something go wrong and completely cut me off from my main online activity... this packet loss is completely uncontrollable on my side.

So yeah, I have been playing on and off with my phone tethered to my PC... and it is PERFECT!

Please iburst, I only have a few hundred megs left on my phone and I refuse to add more while I have over 100 gigs stashed on my iburst account THAT I CANNOT USE for PlanetSide 2..

PLEASE look into this and let us know what is going on or I will seriously cancel my account straight up and pay the close to R800 a month to cell c instead of you guys (I don't give a crap if I lose my accumulated bandwidth*), since I will at least know that I can play properly when ever I want...

Your move iburst!

*Did you know if you want to downgrade your account and you have a crap-load of bandwidth saved up they will completely remove all the extra bandwidth you have accumulated and paid for!
Awesome policy that no one at iburst will tell you unless you specifically ask for it, so just remember that when downgrading!
