*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

1mb USB modem. It was working fine until this morning. Since then I get to about the 400-500 MB mark on a single large download after which it disconnects. It reconnects again without any issues, but these are downloads from non-resumable servers.

Still on the 2 hourly disconnect cycle. We have experienced this exact same problem in the past.
IIRC, it's to do with a timer that is supposed to kick you off if you are capped.
If you remain connected since before the problem started you are OK, but as soon as you disconnect you then get stuck in the two hour cycle (until they fix it).

Hi Gekco

Is this disconnections happening for browsing & emails or just the download
If so where & what are you downloading

That's interesting. This problem started occurring after a midnight to morning download session got interrupted and I received the 'bandwidth cap exceeded' message at about 4:30 am yesterday morning. I could only access the iBurst web site which prompted me to top up. I checked my usage and still had 71 GIGS of 'normal' data available. After spending 10 minutes on my mobile phone waiting to get through to iBurst technical support and explaining the situation to them, the technician asked me to unplug/reset my modem which resolved the 'bandwidth cap exceeded' issue. I did not notice the disconnect issue until later on in the day.

Check your power saving settings maybe it is set to turn your USB devices off after 2 hours

Ok, maybe check your PPPOE settings have been set to disconnect after 2 hours

Hi All, I am using Iburst with a 2 mb modem and a directional aerial of the Emmarentia tower in Johannesburg. Since Tuesday night my downloads gave been limited to 250k and really slow surfing. Upload stays at about 500-600k. When unplugging my aerial im up to about 1 mb when I jump onto another tower.
I called Iburst and explaind the situation. Of course it must be my aerial. I explained this was not the case as I had tested it. Anyway the installer came out and found out it was not the aerial. As a matter of fact he had never seen such good readings before. He went to do some readings near the tower as well. So how to get Iburst to fix the issue or even get some feedback?

Anyone else using Emmerentia. Of course the network status shows the tower as green......

i'm now experiencing the 2 hour disconnects as well. Everything was working fine until this morning.

I'm guessing you were disconnected this morning, and now you at stuck in the two-hour cycle?

Here's hoping my link stays up until iBurst fix this problem.

Aye, checked early this morning and it was disconnected around 4:30. Reconnected and it disconnected again 6:30 then 8:30 and will probably go down at 10:30.
