|3ash3r please mention which tower you are connected to so iburst can continue to degregate you service and improve mine

:D Same as boyequal: Brackenhurst tower.

Not sure if DrTCP works or not post XP, so I just manually set the MTU through cmd. I'll try it again and see.

Woohoo, 3 times faster than 56k dial up! Win

Like clockwork on Friday night I could play Diablo 3 with minimal issues until Sunday evening. Now, being Monday, LAG spikes galore, and my friend on another ISP has no issues at all :(

For the past couple of days I get disconnected when playing BFBC2. It happens at around 18h00. I then get an error in the game saying that the EA server is unreachable. My internet connection still works and according to other players it does not happen to them. About 4 weeks ago I could not connect at all and Iburst technical staff admitted that they were testing shaping to block peer type downloading . This broke some of the games at the time. It is just a pity they decide to experiment on their PAYING clients without telling them. So the question is... should I be trying to fix my system or is Iburst just experimenting on their clients once again?

Hi. Im also in brackenhurt and have been experiencing very slow internet for the last 4 years lol .
Can you tell me what MTU and DNS you use? can it be set on my Netgear router. i see there are some other tools available but im using Mac

MTU = 1392 and I don't use any DNS. For the past couple of weeks, I haven't had any issues with slow speed and the best part about it is I didn't change anything.

The alternative is for peer to peer to kill the base stations?

I believe the alternative is for the guys setting it up the limits, knowing how to limit the peer-to-peer downloading while not affecting the game traffic - especially for high profile games with known ports! I don't know how as I am simply a developer, but guys working on that should have the know-how.

On another note, last week I was actually able to play Diablo 3 after business hours with very little issues rather than only weekends like I complained in the past. My wizard gained 35 levels! That was without any changes from my side, so I was a bit happier with my service last week! Thanks for that iBurst, whatever you did worked for me last week.

No, but the alternative could be iBurst for once actualy telling sibscribers that in an effort to improve service they are going to introduce certain controls to limit peer to peer and that if any other activity such as playing games is affected you would then know why.
I have managed large IT projects in the telco space and if we had experimented on a live platform like you guys do we would have all been fired. Even when finaly going live with a project we would first do a pilot project involving a limited number of users to ensure that if things went wrong it would not affect too many people.
What did iburst do? None of he above. They just left their users wondering why their game / other would no longer work.
I also agree with Darquan - Just put in limits for peer to peer, and I too would assume that tech people working in this space should know how to do that, and if they dont they should not experiment on paying customers.

There are paying customers in areas with heavy peer to peer saturation that are complaining as well. Unluckily, gaming protocols also trigger peer to peer filters and if you have a game that does this please PM me and I'll fwd the problem. Typically, a wireshark helps make the process faster.

And you guys wonder why people are fed up with iburst, you offer a service, then restrict its use, yet we still have to pay you the full fee. You continue to shape peer to peer ( which is illegal) and guys like me will continue to bypass it. Anyone interested in bypassing Iburst's peer to peer shaping pm me.

How are you helping the situation? A single peer to peer client consumes up to 250 connections on a BTS while a little old lady reading her email uses 1.

It is not illegal to shape peer to peer and we are not being unreasonable but respectfully request that this activity is done between midnight and 8am.

Your filters don't always disconnect at 12, in many instances they remain active for days on end. Secondly in terms of service provided, you promise a given speed connection (1Mbps/2Mbps) then deny full use thereof, which legally speaking is in violation of good faith agreements; to shape or alter service provided, without due process or notification. Have you done either? No - you simply implement it. You guys are quickly making yourselves targets. Fix it.
