*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Why is it that the network diagnostics on the iburst website itself always seem to show "no problems, everything is cool, have a nice day" even a we all suffer and struggle with network downtime (from a variety of sources)? Either remove the incorrect reporting of network status or have the courage to update it and show the problems.

+1 !!

This is pathetic, your upstream provider seems to suffer from problems every two weeks or so. Is it not possible to change providers?

Dear valued customers,

We are aware of the degradation issues that some of you are experiencing. There is a peering issue with one of our upstream providers. This will affect browsing, mail and DNS. This issue will affect iBurst Wireless, WDSL, HSDPA and WiMAX customers. We will let you know as soon as we have a resolution time.

Kind Regards

Uhm....

I'm just going to assume that you've never been on the Vodak@k 3G network before in your life.

It looks like Vodacom are also down at the moment, see here.

Madhawk, thanks for that.

I-burst rep, that kind of generic open ended notice means NOTHING. You should surely at the very least be able to guesstimate a resolution time.

Then I'm sure you'd be complaining "They said it would be done by 12, it's now 12:14 - lying scum"

EDIT: @ r00igev@@r , any idea when this will be fixed? Your upstream provider chose a very bad day to have issues....

The upstream provider's techies are in tears and I do not have a confirmed ETR. We are making efforts to use alternative paths.

The network diagnostic refers to base stations and not upstream providers.

The notice was posted with the best intentions and knowledge at the time. There was no misrepresentation.

My comment was directed at Land Locked's rude attitude. I understand that iBurst had best intentions to inform it's users of down time, and that iBurst can commit any turn around times on behalf of an upstream provider (who themselves do not know the estimated time either).

Ooooh another person who "doesn't" work for i-burst. :D

I know it comes across to you as weird for someone to actually be helpful to the iBurst community and not be an iburst employee but are you willing to put some money on that? R5 000 bet I've never had any relations with iBurst other than as a customer. Want to take me up on that?

Put money where you mouth is.
