What is the issue with Steam lately?

Sometimes it refuses to connect on iburst, so I have to connect my phone and use 3g, then switch back over to iburst once its running, thats some crap.

Also the internet is horrendously slow lately, like even google takes its time to load up a search....

Steam often triggers the P2P filters. Will fwd a request to see what modifications can be made to accomodate it.

Google access should have improved dramatically because we are peering with them locally via fibre thanks to NAP Africa.

So far it has taken just over 9 hours to download a STEAM update of 11,5Mb and on 11Mb finally.

But at 6.4kb/s I might as well climb into bed early and get some sleep.

Currently an hour and a half into Eve Online Retribution update 521MB of 1.54GB average download speed of 230kB so my connection is good ... yours is poor. Definitely worth of r00igev@@r to give you some real help.

In Cape Town I'm getting the following from iBurst's transparent proxy for just about every website I try and access:

504 Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:

 A DNS lookup error occurred because the request timed out during the lookup.
Could not open error file[/quote]

I've just called the helpdesk, they are aware of the problem, but don't have an estimate of when it will be resolved.

Update: Looks like it's fixed now.
