Thanks, never knew that! :)

also of note that speedtest say iburst grade B, faster that 72% of SA

Yeah, but that's right by the tower and I don't feel like setting up camp under the tower :p

My random test:

Yet for releatively poor download speed in actual practice I can stream mp3 music and play online game and surf

Do you get that speed consistently? My speeds fluctuate between 0.18Mbps and 0.5Mbps download.

I used to be able to play DotA 2 on about 230ms to 300ms ping with no lag whatsoever last year for almost every game I played. Suddenly, this year I've had one game that was at 265ms ping for the whole game and every other time I've gone in to play, my ping has been consistently over 900ms ping :wtf:

Then the other day, I tried opening 4 web pages simultaneously (gmail, MyBB, a google search and iburst), all of which timed out. A 4MB file takes about 5 minutes to download when using FlashGot (13KB/s effectively).

iBurst contacted me yesterday saying that the problem I am experiencing is traffic and that I should be seeing a speed up when people start coming home from work (which doesn't make sense since people come home and use their connections) and I can't imagine that there are too many people using iBurst in the Brackenhurst area.

So, that faster than 72% of SA doesn't mean a thing since a speed result I get connecting from Constantia Kloof at work with the same coverage as I get at home is 2 to 3 times slower than at home (doesn't make sense since home also said faster than 72% of SA).

Working Again...............

Is it just my system or is this site down?

From Afrinic's whois query:
inetnum: 168.209.0.0 - 168.210.255.255
netname: NEDNET2
descr: Dimension Data
descr: Guardian National
It could just be that the next router along has been configured not to respond to ICMP traffic.

Seems that the basestations in Jhb and Cape Town are down...
They are busy working on it.
Was getting the same error all of a sudden, but back online now!

Everything is bloody slow tonight, the net went down earlier today and has been horrible since then and I am getting sick of this..

Got a flat panel antenna over december and speeds have been decent for the past month or so, and now I am back to the same crap speeds..

http://speedtest.net/ doesnt want to load the speed test 90% of the time, http://testmy.net/ starts the test then bombs out 50% of the time and when it does complete it tells me I have a really terrible speeds.

I have moved this antenna all over the damn place and nothing seems to make a difference except to make speeds worse, I have no idea what to do anymore.

[edit] Got it working better now. It seems the crazy JHB winds lately have been blowing this antenna around so much that the bolt isnt keeping it the way I set it, and its damn hard to find that sweet spot where it works really well...

Still having huge issues here.. Pointing it at every damn tower near me and I can barely get over 100KB

Anyone have any advice about aligning a flat panel antenna? Because this is starting to piss me off.

I am having rather slow international at the moment as well. Speedtest.net does not load either.
