So this means it has to be taken with a grain of salt. I'm essentially talking to the walls then.

I second the exercise and getting outdoors... disconnect. A major contributing factor to stress is TMI. Information overload is real, particularly in IT. We gravitate towards it so it's not an easy cycle to break. Watching the news and posting on MyBB are the two I find harder to break.
Find a parkrun and join it for the community aspect... walk if you don't run - many people do.
Listening to music mostly. Watching a movie every now and again. I watch a lot of international news. If this is going in the exercise direction, I'll be honest there's been no progress so far. I also do web design and this keeps me occupied over weekends only.
My point is it doesn't always matter whether the information is 'negative' or 'positive'... sometimes it's just too much and should be avoided. Set a schedule and stick to it.There's an abundance of negative information as well, this forum is not an exception with all the bad news being shared and commented on. I'm not saying it's wrong what forumites are doing, i`m often spreading a lot of negativity myself, we should just be mindful of what information we consume. I often have to remind myself that my personal problems are more important to worry about than NHI, EWC, SJW schit etc.
Social media can turn really toxic with overconsumption and is not a substitute for human interaction.
Whether you are talking to the walls or not is entirely up to you. Only you can help yourself if you want to be helped and that starts with taking responsibility and fixing whatever is shît in your life.So this means it has to be taken with a grain of salt. That's the tricky bit - logic doesn't always come into it.This thread is really hitting home right now. Someone I know is feeling very much the same way. Only difference is he has quite a lot going for him. Good job, although he's unhappy there, a family that loves him, although they've had enough now, own house, good car and yet he's so unhappy with his life. The way I see it, he is rational enough to realise there is something not quite right with him, so he can either do something to pull himself out of this or his further suicide threats will cause him to lose everyone who loves him. Not trying to be harsh Tera, but I hope these words hit home with you.

What about weed? Does that fall into the psychedelic range?
I'd call those a slippery slope.
@Ancalagon You asked if there's something that might be causing my depression and issues and something also just entered my mind.
I think I have major abandonment issues.
Someone in high authority said something yesterday that made me feel unwanted and that I have no place in the sphere of my current job environment..
The person basically confessed to not caring anymore and that's what set my mind off.
I know to the naysayers it may sound too simple and stupid and that I'm soft, but this does stem from my childhood and even early adulthood.
I wouldn't be surprised if all my issues are related to this fear of not being wanted. Not having a place anywhere.
It's a fact in my daily life. I'm always alone, except if I need to do something for someone.
So how would I overcome this?
This really depends on the person and how they react to weed. My reaction to it is just more relaxed/better sleep and maybe caring less about something that happened in the day. I have tried LSD and shrooms as well, as for the psychedelic parts of all 3 of those, I haven't experienced much of what is touted, pretty colours, maybe a few moments of "childhood like awe and entertainment of the more simpler things in life", but that depends from person to person. Some see dragons, I see pretty colours. What about weed? Does that fall into the psychedelic range?
BTW, I run ArchRight, installing CentOS, FU Win10, who needs you anyway.

STFU dudeYou were the one who made a suicide warning, turned out to be a big nothing, just more attention seeking. If you want help ask for help but nobody is going to take your pathetic grabs for attention seriously anymore.
