Rear foglights driving thread

Rear or front fog lights? They work differently.

Front fog lights work on the principle of being low and not reflecting light back from the droplets/air suspended particles into the drivers eyes and also lighting the verge/painted lines so that the driver can safely navigate the road at slow speed.

Rear for lights are hella (all puns intended) bright to penetrate the fog (smoke, whatever) to lessen the chances of someone driving into the back of you, because they are going too fast for the conditions.

Those shouldn't be on at night....so I'm not sure what the concern is?

Besides the fact that DRL's have no light cast as such and shouldn't infringe on your ability to see past them in any way or form.

If they are on...well then that person is in the same bracket of idiocy as people driving with their fogs on in clear weather.

Front Fogs are no issue at all. (Unless it's an idiot who purposely put his main beams off to use the Fogs only).

The problem is REAR fog lights.

Let's keep it simple.

If you know that rear fogs may cause a distraction to others, leaving you with an increased chance of being involved in an accident, why would you in any sane frame of mind put them on when not required?

But nah, we're the crazy ones :whistle:

...and to be spiteful I switched on front fog lamps.


Cause bitch....I splurged on the higher end model and dose lamps never been switched on....and while driving I went ..."how u like dis banana??????" :crylaugh:
 
Seriously though guys...having read this just before going home...I paid attention to the cars coming from the front and observed the following.

1. Shocking amount of cars that has got no lights on at all in the Joburg weather today.

2. Front fog lights improves the visibility of the cars coming from the front....for me anyway...so switched mine on also. I did not find them irritating or distracting.

I cannot comment on the rear ones as I don't know if the cars in front of me had theirs turned on. I kept my rear fogs turned off.

Rear fogs have never been a distraction for me. Not a single time. Of such a minor thing is a distraction and affects your driving....
