Rear foglights driving thread

But the bigger problem with fronts when people ONLY have them on and nothing else.

The deeper issue with that is that in most cases you cannot do that by accident so it's a conscious decision which makes you a very special toss pot if you do that to endanger yourself and others.

So much of this!

Fortunately my wife's car only has front fog lights otherwise I fear she'd be one of those people who drives around with the rear one on all the time.

That's why the name of the thread is about REAR ones.

By day it is fine.

I jumping into this late but I have to make known the extent of my disdain for the inconsiderate pricks who drive with rear fogs especially on dark roads at night.

It makes it difficult to see, and 10 times worse in the rain, it often makes it difficult to see brake lights because some rear fogs are just that much brighter.

I have a Figo which has extremely bright rear fogs, when I encounter such people on the roads I drive in front of them and give them a taste of what the been dishing out to other road users, and they definitely do not like it, as shown by the bright lights that are usually flashed at me.

So it's either they are not aware or they just being idiots.!

Indeed. Rear FOG lights blinds the driver behind them. Can't see whether they are breaking or not either. Dumbasses.

A Solution to Rear Foglight Glare Syndrome?

If glare from
headlights is a problem, the first step should be a thorough eye examination, as this could be
an early indication of cataracts or other medical conditions.

How Do I Treat Them?
You may be able to make these better on your own if your condition is mild enough. If not, you should see an eye doctor.

Some simple steps to reduce glare:

Sunglasses . They can help during the day. Polarized shades can keep your eyes safe from certain types of glare, like reflections from water.

Vehicle visor. Use this to keep direct sunlight out of your eyes.

Lenses. Ask your eye doctor about special types that can help reduce glare and correct eye problems.

Treatment for halos and glare includes:

Fix your vision. If you’re nearsighted or farsighted, your eyes don't focus light on your retinas like they should. Glasses or contact lenses can help.

Tell your eye doctor if glare or halos bother you. This will help the doctor find the right type of correction.

Get rid of cataracts. Early on, you may be able to reduce the effects with glasses. Use sunglasses to lessen glare.

Surgery is the common, effective way to treat more vision-impairing cataracts. During the surgery, the eye doctor removes your cloudy lens and usually replaces it with an artificial lens.

Multifocal replacement lenses are more likely to cause halos and glare than monofocal ones. But they also help you see both near and distant objects.

Discuss the type of lens you need before the procedure. Ask your doctor about the risk of halos and glare after the surgery.

Darwin will have them sooner or later.
