Reckless superbikers

What are you trying to say??? Wanna take this outside Bru??

:D

By virtue of numbers alone... There are 90% more c _ _ _ _ s on 4 wheels. But you don't hear bikers bitching on a forum about cagers driving like idiots. That's life I guess. People that ride bikes do so for the thrill and freedom. Yes there is an irresponsible element. But a generalized comment such as that from the OP is a bit of a stretch. Tell you what... This arvie en route home I will wave at every 5th car. Lets see how many waves back I get? Feedback on Monday.

As a proportion of c___s, bikers far outweigh those in cars. Bikers second only to the nylon clad cyclist bros when it comes to behaving like a c__t..

Actually yes, I'm so tiered of people complaining about the bikers.. biker this biker that.. go ride in traffic on 2 wheels for ONE day and not have an incident where someone in a cage almost takes you out because they are to busy trying to find something to tweet about on their phones.

There are still way more car accidents than bike accidents, yes some of them are chops but you can't single one person out because you THINK you know he is being reckless...

Why haven't you been in here? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/655387-MyBB-Motorcycle-Owners-Thread

Can someone make that thread a Sticky?

I guess it's the speed of the splitting. Some guys go a little bit faster than the 4 wheel traffic, but are still able to make their way steadily through the jam. That's fine.
But then you get the idiots that just come barreling through, and woe betide anyone who wants to change lanes, they will get a firm uplifted finger, or even worse a broken rearview mirror for it.

Aaah okay as long as you aren't against splitting...because it's actually safer for bikes.

If done correctly and at reasonable speed like you've said.

Max I'll split is 45km/h or so between still standing or close to standing cars. When it comes to the 120km/h stuff there's very little need to split and I tend to do full "car like" lane changes. Although many people will probably see that as reckless "weaving" too, you can't please everyone.

I tend to just worry about my own safety first, then about whatever someone is thinking second.

Mostly because they move through traffic so you see them much more often.

Whereas you have the same 10-15 cars around you all the way to work.

Probably why road rage happens so often, because that twat stays within your proximity until you eventually lose it.

At first I thought it might be something I did this morning, then I realised I don't own a GoPro nor do I live/travel in Jhb.

So describe this "incident". What exactly happened? Because a biker passing you at 120 (in what I assume is not a 120 zone) is not an incident in and of itself. Also, do you have a radar gun? How'd you know he was doing 120? Only way you could know 100% is if you yourself were doing 120 and he passed you at speed...

You must remember that if they do come up short they normally only injure themselves. So it should be a none issue for you. They are reckless knowing they are not putting anyone else's life at risk. So they don't bother me.

They also injure my car and it's difficult for them to pay for the damage when they're dead... :)

On a more serious note though, I do know a couple of people that have been injured in cars after being hit by bikes travelling at high speed. It's not just car drivers though, there are also pedestrians that may underestimate the speed the bike is going and they don't fare very well.

^^^^ - this. It happens to me a lot in the mornings where there is a hill and trucks block up the slow lane so you have cars almost stationary moving across to the fast lane and often the bikes are going 120+ between almost stationary cars that are trying to change lanes. They can see what's happening in front of them, but still get annoyed when a driver changes lanes.

+1 in support of SAFE and CONSIDERATE lane splitting.

What I see most often is jealousy from a lot of drivers. Cooped up in the traffic while we pass through unobtrusively. Some even try close a gap when they see me approaching. They want bikes to be queued up with them. Why should HE get there quicker than ME? What makes a biker so special. DumbA$$ doesn't realize that we're trying to help alleviate the congestion by not being part of it. We also don't have the luxury of heated cocoons and groovy tunes pumping out the speakers... so yes. We'll take the ONE benefit that biking affords us in an urban environment... viz - the ability to get through the traffic quicker. Don't be jealous. Buy a bike and join us.

Not saying it doesn't happen. I can however un-categorically say that they cause less injuries/deaths to 3rd parties than any other means or road going transportation. That is a fact. Sure, they do stupid things. But the odds of you even being injured in one of their crashes or spills is probably close to 0. Just let them be and if they die by their own hands, so be it. Not our place to try and enforce the road rules. We have the traffic department to do that.

It's all well and good to say it's their life so it doesn't affect the person in the car, but the emotional damage of killing someone is terrible for someone to live with. It's the same reason it bothers me so much when these idiots run across highways directly under a bridge. They are unlikely to hurt the driver of a car, but the emotional damage suffered by the driver of the car is massive.
People must just stop being so selfish and thinking that it's only their life in danger. For them it's over in an instant, but for the person in the car, they have to deal with the consequences for years to come.
