Recommend me a Router

I'm a Billion fanboy to be honest. I doubt you will get 10/100/1000 though, not within that budget range.

I'd rather go with linksys, had one too many billion poo in the past.

For under R600, you won't be able to find anything better than the D-Link DSL-2750U / TP-Link W8960N.

Cisco/Linksys makes good enterprise products, but I'm not very fond of their home & office products.
In SA the broadcom ADSL chipsets give you the best SNR margins compared to the others. Just be careful with TP-Link units, because some models (those ending with a 'T') does not use broadcom chipsets - instead they use TrendChip or something like that.

Lately I've seen many D-Link PSU issues (or at least I suspect the PSU being the culprit), but I think that is bound to happen to someone when you have such a big community. This is why I run all my equipment off an awesome APC UPS to just reduce the chances of losing components due to PSU failures caused by spikes/electrical surges.
Like recently on Twilight Forums one guy posted that he had a DoA (dead on arrival) Corsair CX430v2, which he returned and then he received another DoA Corsair CX430v2 unit! So issues can happen to the best of brands.

Lastly, if you don't need WiFi and don't mind having lots of routers/equipment, then you can buy like a cheap D-Link DSL-2500U and a 5 port 1Gbps switch, which would cost you less than R600 in total.

In the market for a ADSL router, one that can act as a ADSL modem. Needs to have 4 10/100 Lan ports 10/100/1000 preferred. Must have 3 year warranty. Budget roughly R600.

So far I have been recommended this one: http://www.ngrcomputers.co.za/trendnet-300mbps-wireless-adsl-modem-router-p-63732.html

Simply because it comes with a 3 year warranty.

I've got this router, ordered it from Takealot. I've had no issues so far, it works well. Only issue is it doesn't have gigabit LAN but I only use the wifi so it didn't matter to me.

Doubt the tp-link ships with anything other than a 1 year warranty. Mine usually get taken out of lightening long before the expiry date.

Then I'll have to weigh in community recommendation over warranty. Thing is I would prefer the Dlink 2750u because it comes with that USB2 port for the printer which is a bonus for me. But I'm not too keen to get it if it has a 1 year warranty, don't want to get a new router in 1 and a half years time again :D

Otherwise I'll just go for the one ngrcomputers recommended me.

Side note: I guess I deserve the title "Warranty Freak" given how I am always looking at what has the better warranty :D

Ah, at least they're in Durbs so hopefully you can get it Monday. You'd have gotten mine on Tuesday morning. :p

Ended up going to a mate and having the power adapter tested, turns out the power adapter doesn't work, so went to Incredible Corruption and bought a Ellies power adapter and now the router is working again :D
