Hai

I need to organise myself an ISP pronto. Telkom was unusually prompt in sorting out my adsl installation. \o/

The biggest consideration for me is latency to international locations, UK, Germany, Europe and the States, prefferably <500ms.

Ofc the other considerations are also important, cost and customer service. But its really that latency that I really want, and ofcourse a ISP that can reliably provide that.

Recommendations please.....

EDIT: Yes, I did read the relevant sticky thread. There was very little in there about what latencies I can expect from which reseller and what not.

Axxess - low latency - they assure you that they use only SAT-3

G-Connect - excellent customer service - just trust me... excellent.

@ Axxess are supposed to be one of the cheapest per GIG.
@ G-Connect has prepaid which works great. You pay R*** into your G-Connect account. You can then use this on ADSL, 3G or WiFi. You can simply let them know to provision your sim card (Has to be vodacom contract). They will then do it and you can simply change your apn settings on that phone and use your G-Connect credit from it.

They also assured me that they use fibre and not sattelite. So latency is low. I recommend G-Connect.

From 5pm to 8pm they charge 4,7 cents per megabyte on ADSL. The rest of the time it is 6,5 cents per megabyte. I think the winning combination of being able to use 3G, ADSL, and Wifi Hotspots from one account is what sold me.

Please just stay away from SAOL if you are concerned about customer service....

See this thread about why:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=181460

My CURRENT total downtime is 2 hours 48 minutes......

And no its not the line since all other routers work Perfectly on it.

So please save yourself from the headache called SAOL........

I've got a thread going on the same question, look at Axxess... it seems promising. They have a semi shaped service where you have shaped ADSL during office hours and after hours and weekends it is unshaped :)

I've been using Axxess for a while now and I think their semi-shaped option is a POS. I always switch my Axxess vouchers over to SAIX shaped. In the beginning when they brought out the IS semi shaped option it was great but something has changed for the worse if you ask me.
